A Pin to see the Peepshow - one of my favourite books of all time. It draws you into Julia’s world and is so powerful and moving. Can’t say more here as don’t want to give any spoilers away! So delighted that this is being republished. Hope lots of your subscribers give it a go. 😸

Just catching up with this video, and I am so tempted by several of the books you mention. I pre-ordered Nigel Slater’s A Cook’s Book quite a while ago and am really looking forward to receiving it! The Story of the Country House sounds fabulous, as does The Love Child; quite an intriguing premise! A Glove Shop in Vienna looks gorgeous and potentially a pretty Christmas gift for girlfriends. Many thanks again Miranda, and enjoy your week off X

Great list. I do really appreciate the way you list the books below. I marked at least six books to consider, one being The Story of the Country Home. So many beautiful covers. I agree with you on the Richard Osman book, I just didn't enjoy his first one. You have definitely opened my eyes to new authors, especially non-fiction. I'm reading our next bookclub choice. The Period Piece is delicious. I'm loving it so far. Anyways, have a good week off or catch up. See you next time. 💐📚😘

Thank you for another wonderful video and I also love that you list your books below and give a great description of each book. :) I have listed four that I would love to read especially Midnight in Everwood as I read The Nutcracker every Christmas and my daughter and I saw the ballet in person the year before Covid hit. Maybe we will be able to see it again this holiday season. Also, wishing you an early birthday full of wonder, blessings, and joy. :)

These all sound lovely and i will get my next years copy of the Almanac. Ive preordered a cookery writer called Anja Dunks new book called Advent which has the most beautiful photos taken by her but is also about her german advent traditions including all her favourite biscuit recipes. I thought it might be a lovely one for you to have for xmas tea reads. She has a great instagram account and I have another cook book of hers which is lovely.

Thank you for sharing your most anticipated autumn releases, Miranda! So many books to add to my list. I'm very excited about The Fell by Sarah Moss, The Gardener by Salley Vickers (the cover is just so pretty!), and I think I may need to start collecting the British Library Women Writers editions. Oh, and I'm going to need another bookcase ;)

Great recommendations 😊 I'm looking forward to Richard Osman and Nigel Slater's books. The only book I've preordered for an Autumn release is The Christmas Pig by JK Rowling for my daughter (although she's too young to listen to it so I'll read myself this year!).

A great list as always and too many temptations, but I’m particularly intrigued by Lev Parikian’s book. I love Journey to the River Sea, bought The Almanac 2021 and will buy all future editions. I’m looking forward to the paperback publication of Ian Mortimer’s A Time Traveller’s Guide to Regency Britain. This series is fun and interesting to dip into. Do you know Anna Koska’s From Field to Forest published earlier this year? I loved it - I think you and others would too. Enjoy your week.

Hello Miranda, all of your recommendations sound Amazing!!!! When you pulled up that Georgette Heyer book I literally “gasped” that Cover is BEAUTIFUL 🥰… I’m definitely getting Molly Peacock’s novel “Flower Diary” I lOVE that I will be reading about someone in your family history…I’m currently reading “September” and when the character in “The Shell Seekers” popped up I was like “ugh!!!” But surprisingly I’m actually started to like the person even though, I’m still at the very beginning of the book…still getting introduced to all the characters, I love how Rosemunde Pilcher does that.. she ties everyone’s relations together so well… I finished up “Evil Under the Sun” and loved it!!! I got “The Mysterious Affair at Styles” and the audio too… Hugh Fraser has become one of my favorite narrators.. he’s also the narrator to “Cat Among the Pigeons” so that book is going on my list..,,I’m telling you my book collection is growing (😂 I’m Bragging) it’s Labor Day Weekend in The US this weekend and Monday is the actual Holiday, I’m going to get a lot of reading done…circling back to my book collection it’s Awesome 😂😊… thanks to you Miranda… I hope You and Donna have a Wonderful Weekend.💕

So many wonderful books on this list, I will definitely be adding Miss Dior and Harlem Shuffle. Your Almanac cover is so beautiful and it made me remember the Old Farmers Almanac my parents and grandparents always had when I was growing up. In 2019 I read a book by Molly Peacock that I loved, also about a woman artist and her extraordinary life. The title was The Paper Garden and I enjoyed it so much I would like to read her newest book now too. One of the things I so love about these videos is how many new authors you introduce me to. Thank you Miranda and have a lovely and restfull week.

Since stumbling upon Paradise, Piece by Piece in the late 90's, I've been such a fan of Molly Peacock's writing. I'm so excited to learn she has a new book coming out. How fun for you to be turning the pages on some of your own family history. So many wonderful suggestions here, Miranda. I adore the cover art on The Owl & the Nightingale. At the moment, I'm enjoying Period Piece, as well as Agatha Christie's Cat Among Pigeons. I don't know how that title escaped me. I thought for sure I had read all of her works. I hope you enjoy a productive and restful hiatus. You need to conserve your energy for birthday fun! 🎂

Thanks so much Pamela! I really recommend Molly Peacock’s latest, although I suppose I am rather biased 😄 How fun to have Cat Among the Pigeons to read - I hope you enjoy it! And so glad you’re liking Period Piece too 😊📚🧡

Miranda, a book you might be interested in is called The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer. This is about a young boy who lives near a local pub in Manhasset NY and is taken under the wings of the older men. It is a true story/memoir. I used to frequent this pub (known as Dickens) in the 1970's.

Miranda, Just found you in the past week and am savouring every one of your videos in order from the beginning, though I did skip ahead for the tour of your bookshelves. Thanks so much to you (and your mother) for sharing your wonderful book collection and thoughts about reading and books. I am always envious when I am in Britain -- the book designs even of paperbacks are always so special, so that I find myself buying books I already own!

Another interesting and enlightening list! I have read a lot of fashion history, but I was unaware of Miss Dior. The Almanac is such a good idea, and I loved The Librarian by Sally Vickers, so I'm glad to hear of her latest. The Colson Whitehead is a must read for me, and I will probably try the new Jonathan Franzen. As the nights draw in, I look forward to light relief in the next batch of diaries by David Sedaris!
