Jacob is probably one of the most versatile bass fisherman today. Ffs or old school, he gets it done every time. You can't deny that.

Hey J-dub! I'm an avid fan of yours whether on the Tour or your channel. Im totally amazed by the detail (juice) that you share with us based on your actual on water performances. Theres a lot of great online experts out there but no one like you. I belive a large component of being a successful angler, is your casting ability, which you excel at. Thanks a lot!

I definitely give you props for making that statement. 👍 about not having to use the ffs. Wow, not to many anglers say that.

I've been Biwa rigging/midstrolling for over 10 years. I fished Biwa back in the day and learned about it there, the Fish Arrow Flash J was the bait back then. You're absolutely right that you don't have to have ffs for it. It was my cleanup bait for specific offshore spots like ledges, brushpiles, humps, points, etc and for going back through timber, stumps and grass. I was bummed when you crushed them on G-Ville with it and showed the world that technique. On the free rig, you can use a bobber stop to control the distance of separation between the weight and bait. Specifically for free rigging with casting gear, I prefer the DoLive Beaver over the Bronco only because of the salt content used for weighting specific parts of the bait. It makes it so that once the weight stops pulling it falls perfectly horizontal with a little quiver kinda like a senko and like a real crawdad after they dart off. So after the initial drop, I can give it a couple quick pops to get separation and let it settle back down to the bottom like a real craw. Outside of that specific use, I prefer the Bronco Bug because of size, durability, and colors. If the Bronco would fall horizontal like that with no weight pulling it down, it would be the deal. Especially with those forward facing side legs. I also like pegging punch skirts with poly hubs to the hook when free rigging. Gives it a bigger profile and is kind of like free rigging a jig. Outside of punching through cover, the free rig has pretty much replaced my t-rigs. Even for punching, outside of the power shot, if I do t-rig I almost exclusively use the JungleGym Black Bean sinker or the Spro version of it, instead of a bullet sinker. It gets through grass/cover better due to most of the position of where the most of the weight is located. I've even switched to using them or dropshot weights for c-rigs too.
