I've been asked about my French skincare routine and what beauty products I use, so that’s what this video is all about. Some are French brands and a bunch actually are not. But what they all have in common is that they’re beauty and skincare products I use regularly and have for quite some time now. After learning the hard way over the years, I don’t experiment too much with new products (sorry French beauty essentials). That’s why only a couple of my top beauty and skincare essentials are beauty products from France despite the fact that I live in France.
From French cleansing water and French toothpaste to non-French eye cream and lip gloss and more, let's get into some of my favorite tried-and-true beauty and skincare essentials I can't live without.

After my cancer diagnosis I check every single ingredient listed on the labels of everything I put in or on my body. Mostly I am checking for possible carcinogens and hormone disruptors. Many are allowed to be used in the USA.

My husband travels a ton and has brought back grown alchemist from some of his first class flights - have not thought to look into the brand. Those hard water treatment powders might be good for those traveling to Iceland - Iceland destroyed my hair last year! We have a mito red/infrared therapy wrap. I can’t say I have seen many skin benefits yet but it really helped me with pain from injuring my elbows from a fall and my husband swears by it for his knee pain - well actually he doesn’t use it much anymore because he doesn’t have much knee pain now!

You're SO welcome. Thank you for watching -- you're probably the only man who clicked. ;-)))) Definitely start a little at a time with exercises. Even if it's five minutes a day of raising your arms up and down while seated in a chair or something equally simple, it all counts. I'd recommend starting with basic bodyweight and mobility exercises.

Thanks for sharing your favorite products! I live in Northern NJ and our well water is hard! My husband and I are in the process of shopping for a water softener. I love Micellar water but it's just not enough for me to clean my face. All of them, no matter how well they clean my face, they leave a film on my skin so I still need to wash my face with soap and water but I've been using distilled water for the rinsing until we get our water taken care of. I love the Malibu hair treatment! My hair feels so clean and soft after using it. Next time I'm in France I want to try that toothpaste!

True! Water is hard in France and you have to adapt your skincar routine. My favorite products (since I am 14) are La Roche Posay. I tried other products over the years (even Avene, which is supposed to have even less preservative) and my (very sensitive) skin always reacted. For the hair, I haven't found better than the American brand Aveda. All these are expensive, but then I don't need any make up. I save on those 😉
@OuiInFrance

Oh yes, Aveda is a great line for hair products and totally agree that it's so important to seek out preservative free products especially when you have sensitive skin. Thanks for watching!

A pharmacist in Paris showed me Biafine cream and I have used it ever since, on bare skin, makeup base or night cream. Tubes come in two sizes and it is very inexpensive. I order online but it is even less in France. Last tube was $9 and that was a year ago. An emollient that is absorbed, no scent and really effective. Worth a try, non?

I've used the Bare Minerals powder for years! Love it! Are all the products on your list cruelty free? And, I don't suppose you have any recommendations for dark spots?
@OuiInFrance
@OuiInFrance 11 ай бұрын
Bioderma is sadly sold in China so like any product sold there, it is subject to animal testing in China. While Bioderma doesn't do it themselves, it's still done so that's technically not cruelty free. A lot of companies will say they are cruelty free but if they're sold in China, they aren't. I still use it though because as I said in the blog post, with my allergy and sensitive skin, I can't really try new things that much. But with everything else I've been using for the last 5 or so years, I try to seek out cruelty free/clean stuff. I believe everything else mentioned is cruelty free (and not sold in China). And I'm sorry I can't recommend something for dark spots but I did a quick search and looks like Grown Alchemist (fave eye cream brand i mentioned) has a serum for them!
@Rachel-rs7jn
@Rachel-rs7jn 11 ай бұрын
@@OuiInFrance Oh wow, I wasn't aware of that distinction. Thank you for pointing it out. Here I was happily thinking my Caudalie was cruelty-free, but I see that they sell in China too. Thanks for looking up the Grown Alchemist serum - I am definitely going to try it!

Since there is hard water in France, do you use any water filter? How do you deal with it? Is Stanley available in France?
@OuiInFrance
@OuiInFrance 11 ай бұрын
To be honest, we need to install a housewide water softener system in our basement but they are pretty expensive. That would treat the issue at the source but for now we have a shower specific filter and I use special tablets for laundry. I talk more about it in this post: www.ouiinfrance.com/french-household-products/ And yes, Stanley has an EU site and they launched the tumbler I have in the video this past April

If it's any help, I also have very sensitive skin and a lot of allergies, and personally I've had good luck with Korean and Japanese brands. My current favorite is "sunprise" by Etude House. I have one from Shiseido if I need something waterproof, but I don't use it much. (Btw, both are physical sunblocks.)

@@OuiInFrance Mineral sunscreen are more natural, but their protection is much less. They have to be avoided on kids or if you're prompt to melanoma. Basically, a 50 protection is a 26 in reality.

Hi Frank, I've seen this comment several times now and have replied so not sure if you're receiving my replies? I don't think I'm the right person to make a video on this topic, as I can't speak from personal experience (which is what I base my videos on) and am not sure I'd do it justice.
