I believe staying in a learning mode is great advice. When I'm fishing, I become an instructor to myself inside my head. Whether its reading cover, learning a new body of water, or trying new techniques, I try to reteach myself information I've learned from your videos and others or just from the different people I fish with. Never stop learning.

Hello all. Just purchased my first kayak a Bonafide SS107. I have not purchased any gear yet other than my paddle and PFD. I will be fishing a rather calm lake and wondered what the minimum equipment I need to land a fish in open water. I notice Chad mention setting up and dropping his power pole. Do you have to anchor to fish from a kayak? I have only stream fished from shore and I’m not sure what I must have. I know I need to pick up a yak attack net. Lol. And help or suggestions welcome.

Fantastic video and lesson!! Curious...how heavy and what type line do you need to securely catch a bass around 8lbs?
@ChadHooverFishing5 жыл бұрын
It depends on the tackle setup and the rod really. I’ve caught several over 8 lbs on 6lb test when fishing lighter lures. I rarely fish that light anymore. But you can with moderate action rods at lower power ratings like a medium light to medium as long as you have your drag set relatively light.
@willfarkouh5 жыл бұрын

Don't take the male and female out at the same time your leaving the fry with no protection nd your bass population will suffer
@jj6918 жыл бұрын
All that effort to catch that fish , take him off the bed. I'm no expert but don't the majority of bass vacate the nest after being caught, thus leaving all those eggs to die , thus minimizing the bass population. Why catch 1 bass when you are jeopardizing losing 50
@jeremiahgiles35938 жыл бұрын
actually, they abandon the nest for a few moments, but they usually come back. it's the moment while it's off the bed and all the other little critters get at the eggs and releasing an exhausted fish back to the bed that hurts most. Unless there are too many of them, I don't fish beds.
@troyreed44148 жыл бұрын
I think if you watch again more closely that male wasn't guarding fry yet. He was just starting to prepare the bed while the female was still staging off somewhere.
@stephanieschultz33945 жыл бұрын
@@troyreed4414 usually there are fry when both female and male are around a bed.
