If the following happened then it would be much better: 1. Dushane actually gets caught and finally arrested by the 2 detectives who were after him since season 1 2. Either don't bother with the Irish, or develop the irish for longer than 3 episodes 3. Develop Stefan further where he is actually on the road for longer than he is...and hunt down sully 4. Didn't really need the immigration arc The ending made sense though. Definitely should be a bad ending where they either die or go to jail. The season definitely needed more episodes to develop the characters more. Dushane and sully transformed to monsters a little too quickly

After the last season with Jamie I didn’t think Top Boy could deliver a better season than that. And they didn’t! I’ve been waiting for this season for so long & it’s very disappointing. This video made some really good points… the Irish being kicked off so soon.. Dushane leaving evidence in the kitchen & so on. They obviously ran out of ideas & filled most scenes with rubbish that didn’t mean anything or were irrelevant to the show. Not the best Finale for Top Boy in my opinion!

It was an extremely rushed season sadly. I don't understand - Where were the detectives that were introduced in Season 1? We were all fooled by the posing as addicts trying to get any hit they can, to grinding out Ruben in season 2 to turn on Dushane and In Season 3 - oh wow there's a murder with dushanes prints everywhere but nah those detectives are not around anymore like ???

Aaron being absent makes no fuckin sense, he’d be haunted by Jamie in his sleep every night for leaving Stef in a home. Dushane would have made sure Jeffrey’s house was 100% clean after he murdered him. (The Dushane of old would have never even murdered him) but I’m willing to let that slide considering that this was his second time losing everything, compulsive reaction and dat. Stefan would have 100% dun Sully especially after hearing what happened to Dris. I think after returning to his mum’s Dushane should’ve had a realization and just turned himself in. I think stef shoulda confronted Sully at the meet with Jaq who woulda had the bags and when stef is doing the whole how does it feel bit, jaq just fuckin caps Sully off the strength of him drillin Kieron innit

@@casket8530 The actor flat out confirmed that he left the show so it’s not like the writers didn’t want him there however the canonical rationale for him not being there could’ve been way better. Like my man got a big scholarship to go to Oxford or something, seeing that his character’s only characteristic is being good at academics. The ending of the show is not the problem here, it’s the avenues they took to get there. Literally changing every character except Sully.

Dushane killing Jeffrey didn't really make sense as he also got screwed over by Lizzy so killing him achieves nothing. Dushane was also recorded on the door camera in addition to the DNA. The big bad Irish connection and how they made a point to make them seem really powerful and large, the 2 guys get popped in a retirement home and that's the end of that. Also the entire retirement home assassination plan was stupid and they would've achieved the same thing just shooting them when they got out of the car lol. Jaq's arc was terrible, she stole the food on a whim and gave it back just as quick. Just a bad season, Sully's acting was on point as usual tho

I think the whole thing with Dushane was they wanted to show he had always been the man in control & he couldn’t deal with/accept losing his empire so he lost his shit (I.E. killed Jeffrey in a fit of rage, stole from his best friend etc). Loved this commentary and review, I have to agree on alot of it. There was so much more potential when it came to Stef and his whole villain arc after literally witnessing his brother getting murdered in front of him. He stopped going to school, his bestfriend betrayed him and got killed as well. They definitely did his character development dirty considering at one point his brother was a whole main character. Even with them killing Jamie, Aaron just completely disappearing and having no show? There could've been phone calls or literally anything other than him completely abandoning Stef to a home.

To both dushane and jaq. Only person that didn't do anything out of character was sully... Oh and imo the person that probably killed sully easily probably Irish extended family... Cos Irish mafia is NOT small I'm surprised they just killed the dad and son and just thought that would be it?? See this is why it was rushed the thinking just didn't make sense

8:36 I feel like having Jamie come back as some sort of ghostly figure that only Stef could see, would've felt a bit too campy. The show is supposed to be a gritty and grounded drama about how gang life is genuinely horrible and it's a vicious cycle that only feeds itself. Having something in that vain would've came off a little bit too artistic and would've been a far cry from what they'd have delivered in previous seasons. Imagine if Sully's revenge plot against the racists was fuelled by the ghost of Jason? It would've been strange. I feel like Jamie staying gone is a good thing but there are other ways to show his presence. I feel like they tried to keep Jamie's spirit living on, with Stefan growing closer to Jamie's friends, especially with Si. Although these aspects DEFINITELY needed more time to flesh out properly, they did show a good proof of concept, where Stef starts inching into that life of crime. They adopt him and show him a good time, practically taking care of him. Although this inadvertantly drags Stefan into the life that Jamie was a part of. Imagine if they expanded upon that some more, showing Stefan gradually becoming more and more like Jamie, as he starts hanging around Si and his group, eventually culminating in the scene where Stef holds Sully at gunpoint. It would've been GREAT, watching the character slowly evolve and have more moments that craft and scar his character, much like the scene where he gets his chain back from the group that stole it. Failing that, it could've been interesting to see some flashbacks between Stef and Jamie, which would've given the actions taken by him a lot more meaning in the long term.

It reminded me of GoT's final season for being rushed and poorly written. Dushanne standing across the road from his already-being-watched house was ridiculous. I remember in season 2 of channel 4 top boy, Dushane's solicitor told him that there's only two ways you can get out of the business he's in: you either die or you go down. I mean, with two protagonists in said business, I was really hoping they'd call back to that moment and have Dushane get arrested and Sully killed. But then the writers just forgot about the police entirely and just decided to kill them both, which is just lazy imo.

6 episodes was more than enough to finish Sully and Dushanes arc. Dushanes actions this season were the result of Sully deading his retirement plan I.e Jamie. Aswell as loseing his entire 16 million fortune. Of course manz going to be acting irrationally and out of character at this point. Also Jaqs did what she did as she was feeling responsible for her sisters death. It was her way of dealing with grief. Plus driss's widow and Sully only added more fuel to her fire. In my opinion this season was excellent and I'm glad they kept it authentic and didn't try Hollywooding it up. They certainly conveyed the message they were trying to get across to most viewers. That life on the roads just gets recycled over and over and that there is never really a positive outcome.

They did actually convey Jaq's thoughts, just not through dialogue. Her sister dies because she's on the brown (drowns, but still) she is told it's her shit that killed her (by Erin's mother) she witnesses that horrible crackhead mother, and has an epiphany that they shouldn't be shotting to their own community. She steals the food out of frustration over the whole situation, and to help deal with her feelings over her sister. She would have been very frustrated due to the unique situation, and taking the stuff out of the equation, likely was a result of this. This was one of the plot points I actually fully understood. I know those feelings, I've been messed up in drugs, lots of friends have, family etc, and it's all linked, and you can't help but feel responsible sometimes, even if you aren't. So in this case, where she is pretty much directly linked to her sisters death (I mean she likely put that gear out there) it would cause you to act irrationally.

I was always uncomfortable about the way Dushaine thieved off Sully and ran away like a scared child (contrary to his character), and perplexed as to why he didn't bloody clean up his murder scene. But now, the Irish parts make no sense either-- (why were they even there for such a short period) and I am questioning Jaq's arc too. Basically it needed 8 episodes at least (probably 10), to flesh some bits out and bring a more plausible understanding to the characters decisions and actions.

Total BS season. Terrible writing. You're telling me Dushane was dumb enough to give 16 million to that ratty woman. If someone has 16 million of my money, I'm putting 24/7 surveillance on them at all times. And I'm meant to believe he doesn't even have access to a measly 250k?!!! I imagine his spread is worth more than that. He could have easily used that as collateral for the smuggler. Or his share of the food Jack stole. But we are the dumb audience. This season is so silly, I wouldn't be surprised if the killer is Stefans little girlfriend and she becomes Top Gal in a spinoff. Lol This season felt like the writers no longer gave a flying fok and just wanted it over. Also that Kieron guy is such a terrible actor. Also why is that betty wasting her time with ratty Jack lmao Give me a break 🙄 Did not buy that relationship from the jump, just like the zero chemistry between Dushane and Shelley (and yes she broke up with him because of the money) oh its not about the money, yeah right. Because if its not, the break was even more dumb. She already knew what he was before she got with him. 🙄 Soon as I saw it was 6 episodes I knew it would be shight.

To be fair those guys with the Smgs at the end toyed it. The first guy got domed because he just ran out of cover because the show need him to do some thing stupid to get killed. Second one got killed because sully is now a navy seal with a strap. But in all honesty those guys once they met dushane had no need to even engage sully the way they did. On a another note i hated how sully had random guys like Junior turn up with no introduction, his team seemed pretty pointless. Also kieron dying off screen, that was wrong how can you do man off screen. In the movie and tv world you die of screen you aint dead. Top Boy writers commited some major sins

I thought it was s good last season but they fucked up on 2 fronts. 1) The Irish Outfit getting taken too easily with impunity did all the effort to introduce them as a force to be reckoned with a huge disservice 2) Lack of police perspective or involvement in the fall of the Top Boys and their criminal empire. I suppose Dushane and Sully's teardown was meant to be internal rather than by external forces which I understand.

I didnt get how it all felt so rushed but then they still had time to spend most of an episode making a pepsi advert about protesting racist police and them at the end of the episode they just let him go so we end up exactly back where we started. Actually a pointless waste of time because they wanted to virtue signal. It could have been completely cut out, not changed the story in any way and had an extra half episode to work with.

I gotta disagree with you. Sully has really no one left, his crew probably heard everything that went down at some point and things started to crack (especially because white got got shot too) it was the perfect time to kill Sully. He was at the end of his life (at least mentally). So shoot the man when he’s down and alone.

It was definitely rushed. I wanted to see the story arc where Lizzie gets tracked down. Also, the Irish arc needed a bit more development. It seems like he was killed too easily. Maybe it had something to do with the SAG writer’s strike.
