Alot of the drill rappers from NY are from various places in the carribean. Dominican republic, Puerto rico, Jamaica, etc. DThang and kay flock are dominican im pretty sure. Thats why you might hear alot of spanish lyrics in some of the songs.

American drill is just too different from the rest of the world and that’s what makes our drill unique. Basically every other country (including the UK) has one type of drill. Here we have Bronx and Brooklyn, two completely different (some similarities) but different styles of drill that make up “New York drill”. Than you got Chicago which is also it’s OWN SEPARATE form of drill, way different than New York drill. You even got Louisiana/Baton Rouge drill in the south. You guys would think it isn’t drill because it doesn’t have that typical “UK beat” just like Chicago but it’s still DRILL. You got Jacksonville drill and Orlando drill in Florida, not anywhere as big as Chicago or New York but it’s there. No other country is close to matching that level of depth and diversity in its drill scene.

@@bazza1024 It depends on who you listen to, there is definitely massive variance in skill with a handful killing the beats and many that just aren't there yet. That said, it does seem like there is a ton of new rappers who are trying to take on beats that are above their skill level and they just can't manage the beat and end up sounding strange. Moreover, a lot of them aren't trying to be original, just replicating that hoarse, full throated drill style and a lot of them just can't pull it off. To me, it's like just be yourself don't try to copy the guy that has a little buzz.
