Appreciate the effort you put into the video. One piece of feedback. You showed us the photo quality of the photos and videos stored on the SD card, not what was sent via cell service. I have the spypoiny and the default photo quality of images you receive via cell service is horrible. The whole point of these is to monitor primarily with your phone with their app, so seeing the quality of those images and the quality of the app is key. All the best, hope you keep it up.

It took me trying several of my old trail cam's to get the cell link to work but once I found 2 that worked they actually send better pictures. Also, the pictures are compressed for cell transfer but if you hit the HD button it will resend @ full HD. And I'm sure you already know this, that if you download the cards to you device the pictures are full HD. Thanks & good luck to you also.

You are spot on. They come through to your phone a bit more compressed than they are actually on the SD card. This just because it takes so much data to transfer them. When you request the HD pic or pull the SD card, they will be full quality.

There’s some new ones that are “dual sim” so they are compatible with ATT and Verizon and will automatically switch back and forth to whatever one has the stronger signal at the time. The spypoint flex and moultrie Edge are the two that I’ve seen. I’ve yet to try them though but could work for you.

What are the bettery times on these? I'd like to know in future reviews if they are battery or lithium, etc. Do they even make these cans with lithium batteries?
@NextStepOutdoors
@NextStepOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
They all vary. I only run lithium batteries in my trail cameras. Depending on if you are getting a handful of pictures a day compared to setting up or a bait pile, the battery life will change dramatically. The transfer frequency also affects battery life. So if you have it send you a picture after every single trigger, it will eat up your batteries. I normally set mine to just transmit pictures once or twice a day. The best battery life I’ve seen is the link micros. They will last an entire season+ on one set of lithium batteries.

I didn’t hear anything about how hard they are to set up, receiving the pics and them working like they claim. That’s what I wanna know. If they aren’t easy to set up, have decent CS, and reliable, I don’t want them. That’s what a lot of these videos don’t cover. Setup Reliability Customer Service I can deal with 16mp but no point in 30mp and .2sec trigger speed if they don’t work All these vids showing the same thing their sites and boxes claim Edit:and battery life, it would be nice to know battery life

Those are all great points. So far, they have all been pretty smooth. The only customer service dealings I’ve had lately are sending my bushnell back because one of the door latches snapped off. Waiting on a verdict but hoping they either repair or replace and ship it back to me. In future videos, I’ll probably review a smaller number of cameras so I can go deeper into detail on the other points you suggested.

Thanks for all the great information. Wish I had come across this video sooner. I bought a Muddy and had a lot of issues with it. Ended up hanging a second camera on the same tree and found it was only taking a third of the pictures it should have. Some of the missed pictures were of deer less than 10 yards away. And their customer service was a joke.

Michigan hunter here. All types of weather humid, warm, hot, cold. Have done spy point micro, stealth fushion x, reveal xb. I agree reveal has great qualities, pictures, video, no flash BUT, batteries go twice as fast especially with higher quality picture setting and video and takes more batteries than others to run. If you have an active area every 1 to 1-1/2 month could be changing batteries if your lucky,(not using cheap batteries either) especially in cold, only way I would run these is with solar recharging battery that is added cost. For this reason, I don’t feel (my opinion) the quality is much different to the stealth fushion x for that reason I’ll be selling the reveals and buying more stealth. Subscription/Package is slightly cheaper to run on stealth too. Overall both good but when your running more than 2 cameras, stealth is cheaper with same quality I feel. Side note, spy point wasn’t bad, just like other two better. Just my 2 cents.

With the cost of batteries these days, I've been slowly switching over to the 12v batteries with built in solar panels that tactacam offers. Even on a food plot on video mode, it has yet to dip under 100% battery. Thank you for your feedback though. I've recently had a bad experience with stealthcam's customer service, so I've been avoiding them since.

On a full charge (and being solar) the battery dies in about a week. NOW this may be due to colder weather but it was starting to get drained of battery in 40-50 degree. I have the Wildlife Innovations Encounter camera and would not recommend. It was easy to download the app and set up the camera but then it works and then it doesnt. Even the app sometimes tells me it cannot find my account. Very weird. I will get pictures for 2 or 3 days from my hunting land then nothing for a week. I am not sure what is happening but I am done with WI cell cameras. I called their customer service and was on hold for more than 30 minutes. You have the option to put your number in there for them to call you back. It's been 10 days and no phone call from customer service, so customer service from Wildlife Innovations also sucks. Battery life is ok but I guess when you are only sending 3 days of pictures you dont use a lot of battery.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! I want to buy a trail cam but I haven't figured out which one to buy and I've been looking at them for the past month! I thought the E6 was the way to go because it's got everything I need... I need Bluetooth so I can put pictures directly from the camera onto my phone cuz I don't use a computer... I'm kind of lost as far as if I need Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. I thought Bluetooth is what I needed in order to hook it to my phone and transfer pictures / videos. Also has to have time lapse mode, built in screen, clear pictures day and night without a visible flash at night time and clear audio, I don't know if this is available but I would like to be able to control it from my phone if I'm in range and make it record when I tell it to whether it be a picture or video/audio that would be nice. I'm going to probably end up using it mostly for security/surveillance type of applications. I want to make sure it take the picture at the right time to get whatever it is in screen... I watched and I saw someone said the Gu gardepro E8 constantly was taking pictures where you wouldn't see what was tripping it and on top of that it was extremely grainy blurry pictures if it was up close and they said the E6 was it not blurry up-close as well as didn't miss what it was supposed to take the picture of and a few other things but it seemed like the E6 was much better than the E8. Also it has to be under a hundred bucks preferably closer to 80 or below. I saw the E6 on Amazon for like a hundred bucks and then it had a coupon attached to it where would come out to be around 70 or $80. Anybody who could help me figure out which one I should buy I'd highly appreciate it! I really want to order it and get it ASAP I wanted it like 2 weeks ago but I don't want to get the wrong one

I know my experience with spypoint may not be the same as other people. I’m sure that some have had no issues. I bought a micro last year and could only get 25% signal where I had it, but still got pics although it might send them 50 at a time. This year I have 100% signal and after the couple of weeks before season opened it had sent maybe 25 pics. My other camera that isn’t cellular, which is at the same location had 1400+ pics in the same couple of weeks. Not tell anyone not to buy one just telling my experience.

Plans are super important. I have the Moultrie Edge, with the base plan. That's up to 1,000 pics/month. Since the does like to graze around after I put out some corn, I might easily get 250 pics/night. So, that's going to be a problem. Also, they don't mention that if you want to actually see a 33Mpixel picture, you have to pick one of the low res. pics that you get normally, and ask the the camera to download you the high res. pic the next time it checks in... and you only get 5 high res./month. So, choose wisely. Also, you only get 10 videos/month. I haven't actually turned that feature on yet, I'm saving it till the week b4 season starts. I assume I'll end up with 5 videos the first night, so that will suck.

I recently added two of them to my Arsenal. One was placed in an area with iffy service. The one thing I don’t like is the fact that there is no sd card. All other cell cams will still take pics and save them to the sd card when there is not enough service to transfer to the cloud. I do not believe the edges do that unless they have some amount of internal memory.

Those are great questions. As far as provider goes, it doesn’t matter so whatever one has better service in the area you are planning to deploy the camera. If you buy an annual plan, you would be able to cancel at any time before it renewed the following year. For the monthly plans you can start and stop them at any point through the app. For the pic limits, 500 means it’ll send 500 pics and then stop sending to your phone but the camera will continue saving them to the SD card so you will still be able to see those whenever you check the cam in person. If you have your eyes on a specific brand, let me know and I’ll double check all of my info is 100% accurate

It looks like tactacam offers unlimited for $13/month and the next step down is 500 a month for $8. Spypoint is $15/mo for unlimited or $10/mo for 1000 pics. If you’re only running them for hunting season I normally just get the unlimited so I don’t need to worry about it but 1000 pics is a lot unless you’re planning to put it on a bait pile or a super high traffic area.

Yeah, I would just go with the unlimited plan then. Batteries did good. Think I changed them once in a 4 month time frame but they were on a corn pile and had non stop birds from sun up to sun down on video mode taking videos every 15 seconds. I’d expect to get an entire fall out of them under normal circumstances but I was trying to get as many pics/videos as possible to test it (although I wasn’t intentionally trying to get the birds).
