I'm digging these old-style lists. They are way, way more "watchable" than the livestreams/ live shows, and I feel that I'm learning a lot more by watching them. Becka's tank is also a good segment. Welcome back!

*Rainbow Stylopora?! I’ve never seen it before, but need a piece! WOW! 🤩 I prefer daylight over blue light.*

Many tanks are way too heavy on the actinics for my taste. They resemble a disco or rave more than the actual ocean. Great video.

As someone who HATES pure actinic lit tanks, glad to see a video like this! I've never understood the appeal of a tank that you need orange sunglasses to look at or a filter to take a picture of, definitely makes those brown corals look good though lol While not corals, another invert that looks fantastic in daylight are anemones. They may show some fluorescence, but look far better under white light IMO

That's why my tank is on balance though mostly on blues, but you don't need orange filter to see the beauty in them

aren't rock flowers insanely fluorescent?

My fav coral is the Oregon Tort, no blue comes close to this in daylight.

Honestly, the yellow polyps looked pretty cool under blue.

certain classics like Purple Digi and Oregon Tort are awesome under daylight. Purple Bullseye mushrooms too

Nice video, but I wish you had included more examples of the coral under daylight lighting.

Coming from the African cichlid world, I had an actinic light above a tank full of "dragons blood" peacocks (ultra bright orange) and they'd basically disappear under the blues, because they don't reflect any blue light. Same story for all the yellows here I suspect.

Idaho grape montipora is another good one. My colony is deep purple under daylight but black under blues lol

Yay I’m all in for white natural light I have blue In the morning and evenings just simulating the sunrise and sunset but I love seeing a natural looking tank but I’m one of those older guys lol

Yeah I dont like the blue lights, I have the Green Stokesii Goniopora which looks crazy under the 440nm royal blue but I think it looks even better under white 6500k. Snowflake Clownfish looks stunning under 6500k. Great Video!

Are there any zoanthida that look good under white lights?
@aquaticnstuff76662 жыл бұрын
I love daylight and I love fluorescence lol but when I bought LEDs I bought Orphek Blue bars because that's the way to "power" your corals best bang for your buck (blue light spectrum). But now I wish I had 1 reef day and just 1 blue bar.

A very timely video, and the fish... do they not look better in sunlight? could you show some more of this aesthetic with perhaps more inverts? how natural can you go within reason?

I'm starting a job as a designer/coral photographer for my local reef shop. As someone that started reefing 10+ years ago before the hyper windex blue lighting trend, I'm planning on bucking the trend with more natural lighting conditions.

LA Lakers turbinaria. One of my favorites for day light. Unattractive past 12k or so.
