@@andyony2 I (Tomer) lost my local audio recording and had to use my backup (webcam) audio, but that one recorded everyone's voice together and was awkward trying to edit me and someone else were talking at the same time. So I used the backup audio for everyone :(

The thing that Tamanoa has going for it that Firesong and Sunspeaker, Soulfire Grand Master, and most recently Rem Karolus are missing (aside from green) is that Tammy works with all non-creature sources, not just spells, which opens up waaay more options. E.g., punishment type enchantments and artifacts like Spellshock, Ankh of Mishra, and Manabarbs passively gain you life on opponent's turns; the many pain lands like City of Brass, Karplusan Forest, Ancient Tomb, and normally bad lands like Centaur Gardens will cancel out their damage and trigger your Ajani's Pridemate, Heliod, and Well of Lost Dreams triggers; and Tamanoa plus Atherflux Reservoir with more than 50 life wins the game on the spot. There's been commanders that look like Tamanoa, but none have had the full suite of possibilities that Tamanoa does. (edited for grammar and corrections)

The best is having pain lands (like city of brass), Tamanoa, and a Well of Lost Dreams: T: add a mana, take 1 damage. Trigger, gain 1 life. Trigger, use that 1 mana you just made to draw a card. It's peak kitchen table magic.

@@AxillaryPower2 Pyrohemia and something to protect your general from damage would just be fabulous. There's so many cards out there that are mostly mediocre that this sort of commander would be perfect for. It would really be cool to see a legendary creature that is a precise copy of this creature. No extra bullshit, just a three mana red white and green creature with the same text. Also, note that this ability doesn't grant lifelink. You can double your lifegain from instants and sorceries by playing out a firesong you'll also get two extra bolts for the life you gain.

100% agree with changing the rules on Yuriko. I have all the Song of the Dryads effect cards just to deal with her, its ridiculous. But also Dragon Broodmother should be legendary.

of the ones discussed, abyssal persecutor was my favorite> outside of that, I've always wanted Dross Scorpion as my commander. unique synergistic effect that has enough restrictions to not be mindless build (ex. treasure doesn't trigger its effect). It also doesn't draw cards by itself, so it's harder to complete the combos than card advantage commanders can.

This will never be unearthed but Docent of Perfection from Shadows always seemed like it was unique enough lore and function wise to be a commander for wizard tribal before Dominaria and the Kess precon

Brutal Hordechief would be a really sweet commander. You could build it as a goad deck like Kardur, or make a zillion tokens, or lean into life drain triggers, or try to force a huge creature past blockers (or into blockers). Or what if Seige Rhino could be your commander? Would it be too good? Terrible? I have no idea, but it would be funny

If I had to pick 4 of these to see in a paper commander stream, I think I'd pick crocodile tribal, the persecutor, the swans, and uncle istvan.

I agree with Richard about the sultai crocodile commander tbh. My crocodile tribal deck is helmed by Vorosh (The sultai dragon) just simply because he's got some 1+/1+ counter synergies. I'm even running the enchantment that turns into a crocodile... The tribe needs a legendary that suports both the attacking strategy as well as the counter mechanics when attacking isn't an option.

I always thought necropolis regent would make a sweet commander. It gives off that commander energy imo. Heavenly blademaster also gives off that same energy to me... Ageless entity? I'm blanking on multicolored, but maybe Djinn Illuminatus? Always thought he seemed underused, but would be a sweet commander. Maybe corpsejack menace, gleancrawler, or doomgape?

Phil is right on the pronunciation of Gisela. When I’m not sure of the pronunciation of a name in Magic, I look at the Russian card, as their alphabet is very straightforward in the way things are pronounced. In Russian it is Гизела, which is indeed pronounced “Geezela.” Another common mispronunciation is Gisa (Джиза) which is actually pronounced “Jheeza”.

The abyssal prosecutor no-win lock would be drannith magistrate and uba mask. Get your opponents hellbent and they can’t do anything. They never loose to decking because uba mask replaces the draw. Then play a necropotence so you can skip your draw step.

One thing I'd want more legends of would the planeswalker characters, just not in their planeswalker forms. We have so many cool planeswalkers characters but so few are playable as Commanders, and even fewer as creature Commanders. I'd love Gavin to give us Battlebond part 2: Electric Boogaloo and have it be a bunch of planeswalker characters as creature cards duking it out as like a tournament arc style.

You should definitely do a Commander Clash webcam episode in which you play the cards you proposed. The Swans deck sounds hilarious and there are a few cards that aren't even that bad. All the Masticores become a draw engine. Fodder Cannon, Lightmine Field and Guilty Conscience are also decent cards. And it's hilarious to use Aether Flux Reservoir, Charbelcher, Sentinel Tower and Talon of Pain to draw cards. If you want to get really janky use Ballista Squad, Tower of Calamities and Unerring Sling :D.

Charbelcher + Mana Severance is already good, but would be hilarious when used to draw 50-ush cards by targeting Swans. Especially if Swans had Empyrial Armor/Plate or Wizard Class was at level 3.

The tarkir ones with the colored activated abilities are so so cool. Jumpstart had twocolor cycle of colored ability commanders but these ones are way sweeter. Will you follow this up with a planeswalker as commander discussion ever? Like if you think theyll print more Animatous/Windgraces type legends with the text

Totally agree that we need a not stupid and busted ninja commander. I want to play ninjas, but Yuirko isn't a ninja deck, it's a turns/big CMC deck that has some unblockables and maybe some ninjas.

While I know this is very late, I feel like Uncle Istvan needs more respect. He was from a time when walls were a common and useful thing. He was a great blocker back then - the only thing really that got by were flyers. Those you blocked with will-o-wisps :P. For a year or so, I played him regularly.

33:05 Phil would be correct in the pronounciation he told Tomer, the name also exist in sweden and even has a old male version in "Gisle" although that is considered a very oldfashioned name. In sweden the name is sometimes pronouced with a soft G, but the remaining part of the name is still pronouced the same as in german. That been said, while Innistrad is a german inspired set, WotC resides in USA so a english pronunciation wouldn't be wrong either.

Ninjitsu and mutate really run a fine line in the command zone. I run emry for cedh since again it cheats costs like yuriko, just not as broken imo, but yeah emry is super super strong. Even liesa is super strong by paying 2 life instead of tax. I want less commanders under 4 cmc and more higher drop commanders so it slows the format inherently, since god forbid people stay casual and dont build for cedh at a normal table.

No, it only prevents them from losing. If you made lazav into the persecutor and then gave it to them it would.

Unfortunately still no. Platinum angel specifically stips players from winning, persecutor does not. Preventing your opponents from losing is different than stopping them from winning.

Can't lose the game prevents those. See angel's grace. That works against win the game texts, so why wouldn't persecutor?

Again Angel's grace stop opponents from winning, persecutor does not. Losing is not a byproduct of someone else losing. If an opponent was about to win with Maze's end, Angel's grace would save you, however persecutor would not

Just for Crim, Legends had the first legendaries. The Dark precedes Legends and includes no legends at all (also see named characters from Arabian Nights).

You need to do a worst legendary list. Spoiler most of them will be from Legends edition as Jasmine Boreal 3 White Green for a 4/5 vanilla legendary. Yeah Legends has a lot of vanilla legendries that do nothing don't worry most of them will be cheap around $6-10 USD NM there are even some where you tap and add mana but they cost a lot like 6 cmc or 5 cmc and just adds 1 mana either generic or a specific color but Sunsatian Falconer gives 2 colorless mana le gasp its also a 5 drop Green Red Though i will say the flavor text on them is nice

Uncle Istvan isn't legendary because legends didn't come back as a thing until Ice Age. There were no legendary creatures in The Dark and Fallen Empires even though those sets came out after Legends.
