I think Amara is safe because of the deathrattle requirement (tbh priest has many easy ways to get Amara out pretty fast but still needs those cards, for example, twilight's call) but every deck has mana, but it's a hard card to see how fast / easy priest can pull it out.

Kinda. Giving your opponent an incentive to leave your minion alive is kind of a cool benefit -- like "anti-taunt." Even decks could kill it without hesitation, so they still get some benefit from their deck restriction.

As another way to possibly balance Project:Chimera, keep everything the same except that instead of “Your minions gain all other tribes” it becomes “your minions gain an extra random tribe”. Flavour stays the same. There is still admittedly a chance for insane combos, but it’s just a chance, it’s not dependable enough to get super out of hand OP OP

Infectious rat removes the enemy minion from graveyard. Very powerful against resurrect priest and Hadronox when given rush. It's more like a 1 mana polymorph than gastropod.

Which is great, because Hunter doesn't have any polymorph/non-kill removal abilities or spells at the moment when most other classes do (Mage [Potion of Polymorph, Polymorph, Polymorph: Boar], Shaman [Hex, Devolve], Priest [Entomb, probably a few others], Warlock [the project card, Howlfiend + Treachery, Azzari, destroy half deck card], Rogue [though only temporary removal, Sap, Vanish, also good at getting random spells that can have that effect]. That's all I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure Druid and Paladin also have cards with similar effects. Hunter and Warrior are the only two classes that really don't have anything remotely comparable to Polymorph.

Dio honestly? I have no idea. The game is inconsistently coded. But even if it only counted for one tribe per use, you could still use it for two while the rest of the deck is beast/mech synergy. Plus that version could have masters call and that 3 mana discover a minion in your deck minion to search it out. The effect is stronger than I think I’d be comfortable with for standard, so it can’t be printed while any ALL tribals are in standard.

Skullhawk13 The text as OP wrote it means that you would need to play 4 minions that aren’t copies of each other and each have different tribes. Amalgam would only count for one and might cause the quest to fail depending on how it was coded. In any case making it a quest allows for wiggle room on the balance - your deck idea only accounts for three tribes; what if the quest requirement was 5 tribes? A bigger problem is that I think quests are all class cards, and idk if this idea merits breaking that pattern

Sideways I mean the issue is it’s all or nothing, a deck balanced around it would need the effect early, so getting it late just leaves you with a terrible deck, but start of game means you just have an unholy beast/mech/murloc/pirate aggro deck. The idea is probably not salvageable. It’s either worthless or broken, I don’t see a middle ground

Hunter card Project: Chimera (6/6 beast) Start of game: if your deck has no spells in it, all your minions become beasts (and lose other alignments) Creates a mirror to spell hunter, and since it means none of your minions are e.g elementals it restricts your ability to play other cards (e.g blazecaller) so iys not overpowered. Variants with Demon for warlock and Elemental for mage are also plausible but I think hunter would make most sense.

Project: Chimera could be salvaged with two major stipulations. First, the Start of Game effect instead gives you a quest to play on turn 1 that states "Play 4 minions with different tags REWARD: the tags of your minions become ALL." The other stipulation is that instead of no spells, the card should say no class cards. This makes it so it doesn't get out of hand too early, but still presents itself as an interesting option.

@@purpleaki06 the "investment" key word. You have to play the card,at the very least, once to make it manageable cost(turn turn 10 for ten mana so it returns to your hand at 10 mana). You can play the card earlier than 10 of course to "invest" and reduce the cost over time. The moment you do, the opponent would know since it would be pointed out in the action bar and knowledge would tell you no other card can be played and do nothing. You can play around it by using mirror entity when you think it's coming, pressure face to force opponent between investing lifewing or playing something else, or just killing him before he can invest enough mana into it.

@@MrTetrisz If you're a Warlock and he has few cards in hand and dumps an entire turn into Lifewing, you could play Demonic Project and stand a reasonable chance at hitting Lifewing and just straight up winning right there. Or in Wild you can hang onto a Dirty Rat if you can manipulate his hand into being small enough to stand a good chance at pulling out the Lifewing that way.

Project chimera would cause a really uninteractive and stupid otk. You just play two mechwarpers, a knife juggler and then replay youthful brewasters until enemy hero dies. Total cost: 3 mana (You could return your knife juggler with the first brewmaster and then replay it for free.)

Prevents Mechwarper abuse (at least until you discover one in the inevitable Mech Warrior variation), and it's difficult to obtain other minions that actually interact with those tribes. Even tech cards like Golakka Crawler would be a no go because they have their own tag.

Do you think one could be able to use "investment" even if they can afford the minion, to save it for later? Meaning, say you have 5 mana and your "investment" minion is down to a mana cost of 3... Could you invest 3 mana into it *without* playing it, so you can use it later in the game for 0 mana? Or would it be "If you have the mana, all you can do is play it"? Also, about 0:52 I think the implications is that the Mad Chef will butcher skeletons, robots, murlocs, or even humans, to give you the +1 hp, when chickens aren't available for the +10hp meal.

Investment is a horrible mechanic. I don't know how/why Trump said it's good. You play this card, you have full health, while your opponent is beating you over the head with 7, 8, 9, 10-cost minions, you're over here playing 4 and 5-cost minions trying to scrounge mana to pay back. What makes it worse is the "by X..." part, which I'm thinking means by, for example, five turns (which means, the most mana you can play per turn is 6 mana on average, if in four turns you have to pay the 20 mana back-which is a lot of turns to wait to pay it all back-then the most mana you can play per turn is 5 on average).

You could just make the 6/6 start of game battle-cry. This prevents aggressive openings and you need to find the card. If this is not enough you could make it a legendary spell that costs upwards to 6 mana: if you have no other spells the tribe tag of all monsters becomes all.

I think project chimera can be salvaged with the word fused . The end of your turn the monster will fuse with the right most minion. That means play order and they cant fuse again after they fused

Chimera could be salvaged if it read instead "Battlecry: All minions you control and in your hand have the tribe tag ALL". This turns it from an aggro player's utopia into a combo piece, and is consequently more suited for a midrange deck. Also requires that your deck be more thoughtfully built to account for not drawing it soon enough, so you can't just run the best minions of every tribe since you won't always have the combo piece to pull off the synergy.

Project Chimera: Actually, it's easily salvageable. Give each tribe one other tribe. It can either be a cycle, or a pair. For example: Machines are also totem and vice versa Dragons are also Beast and vice versa Murloc are also Pirate and vice versa Demons are also elemental and vice versa (It just happens that we have 8, so easily 4 pairs) Alternatively: Totems are machines are dragons are beasts are murlocs are pirates are demons are elementals are totems (have fun parsing) or something like that. You can, therefore, play a dual tribe deck and the menagerie cards(in wild) would become better. But nothing excessively busted. The text would simply say give every tribal card an extra tribe, with details on the mouse over details box. Random assignments can work too, and that could even affect non-tribed cards. But that might cause more issues in execution.

Unless you stat the creature more on curve, then it is no longer a gimmick, more of a bonus attached to your natural zoo deck. Not sure. It does open some strange combos with anyfin?

I agree that investment seems like a cool keyword, but I'm not a fan of Lifewing specifically. I feel kind of eh about Reno/Amara effects without a deckbuilding requirement. Not sure if it's a balance issue, but it feels off.

I'm not sure if you could make a stupid deck out of non-tribed tribal payoffs like Houndmaster, but if not it'd be trading off flexibility in one dimension (spells) for flexibility in another (more minions to include)

Two mana just to activate combo is not a good deal. Even with Vilespine slayer, it's just a 7 assasinate with a 3/4. Combos are more effective if you can get them in addition to doing something else.

project chimera could be fixed by affecting the board instead of the deck minions would get played as themselves and only when out in the board could be targeted by a houndmaster or aura effect, mech warper becomes balanced again and dragon synergies would go to waste but thats minor imo

You can already Dire Frenzy your Queen Carnassa to both buff her on the board and get 3 more of her in the deck. Which in practice isn't even close to OP because Quest Hunter still sucks. Hunter would need a way to make more copies of Coldlight Oracle to make a decent fatigue deck, and since Dire Frenzy only works on Beasts, that's currently not an option.

Main problem with "Investment" is when you have multiple cards with the key word. Does it discount them all evenly? how does it choose? If you have 8 investment cards in your hand and 10 mana at the end of your turn, does it discount all of them by 10 or randomly? If it was randomly, it would probably cause people to be salty by the randomness. If it was all of them by the mana you had left over, I feel like it would be to broken (or bad as the cards would have to have strict limitations then).

Digiquo I think the mechanic is also smart because of the rare opportunities to play cards that give you more mana after you invest, which means you can invest, play a coin, and then play a 1 cost Spell. But yeah, comprehension seems to be a lost art online...

Project Chimera could be interesting, if it worked vice versa, putting a LIMIT on the total amount of minions you can have, i think. Then again, you can summon minions with some spells, but still could be interesting. Minions'tribe becomes "ALL" but you can put only, say, up to 8 in your deck.

Project: Chimera in a nutshell: Turn 1 "Murloc Tidecaller" Turn 2 "Mechwarper" + Coin "Mechwarper" Turn 3, 2 "Southsea Captain" + 1 "Murloc Warleader" Tidecaller is now a 10/4 and that's on turn 3 and not counting any other buffs you could give it like casting a free Razor Maw to adapt it since you have beasts on board, 6 of them in fact and the Razormaw would be All meaning it would get the buff from the Mechwarpers discounts. the Southsea Captains would both be 6/4, the Mechwarpers would be 6/5 and the warleader would be a 5/4, while the razormaw would be a 7/5.

Project Chimera is even more powerful now, turn 5 play scargill, play Alextraza, Malygos, or literally any 10 mana minion. Don’t forget all of these will also synergise with every tribe.

what about making the requirement for project chimera having a deck with only one tribe, there are some cards that are from one tribe but buff another tribe like the new murloc with deathrattle: give +2+2 to a dragon or the new paladin dragon that gives divine shield to all your murlocs.
