As the Author of GSE, great video. For those asking about is this legal. 100% legal. It’s not a bot and it can’t make decisions for you. It can’t for example look at your combo points and wait for 5 before doing something or see your opponent cast and kick. Once combat starts, your sequence “just runs” however it was set beforehand. There were a lot of changes with the War Within and Blizzard placed a number of restrictions on what mods like GSE can do. It is still 100% fully compliant with Blizzards rules and as a totally enclosed in game mod it simply couldn’t break them if it wanted to.

so were not explaining the part where you press one button and the rest of the ability's that are part of the sequence are input by the addon and not the person. Because that part isn't adding up for this not potentially getting people banned. The difference between a macro doing this and a addon doing this is macros are part of the game and addons are 3rd party use and not part of the game by blizzard, and this is all bypassing the fact even if you use this addon and it's allowed it doesn't help you with anything about learning your own class as I explained in my last comment. Since it doesn't even do the rotation correctly on a fundamental level where you want to press x--->y. Stuff that you don't even need the example you gave with the combo points in your comment. Also, the difference between this and something like hekili addon etc. is that hekili gives you a idea of your rotation but you as the player have to manually press the buttons not the addon for you. I'm gonna say for sure this can get player banned but also blizzard could just ignore it and not ban players so as I'll say again, use at your own risk.

I know a lot of people who have to play one-handed, who can't move their fingers fast enough across a keyboard, or have problems using conventional control methods for a variety of valid reasons. Without addons that help with big macros, there are loads of people who just couldn't play Wow or similar games at all. You can interrupt the automation any time by pressing a key, and you can't just press a button and go afk, so it's not botting.

Also, I'm gonna go off and say I'm pretty sure the addon developers didn't have people who are handicapped in mind when making the addon, they just wanted a addon to press one button to spam their rotation, and there is a lot more less risky way for your account and safe way of doing this for people who are handicapped and that's looking up the macros and making a macro in game that can do the same thing which has been proven to work with 1 button hunter in the past. I'm not saying anything against people who are handicapped and want something like this but going down the macro line of making macros in game that do this is less risky and would be better recommended.

And then he can actually focus on moving away from dangerous boss mechanics, instead of having to watch his actionbar and what to press constantly!

There's still a lot of hope for your dad. I'm 76 and have been playing since the beginning. Yes, I still suck and don't do dungeons but it really helps my mentality. I have over 12 toons maxed out at 70, and only one maxed out at 80. I'm on Silvermoon if he wants to get a partner to side with.

The addon is essentially a fancy /castsequence macro for handicapped people. There is nothing about this that can get you banned since you still have full control of your character.

It also is not going to top any meters unless you are playing with potatoes. Use addons like Hekili if you want to "automate" your rotation with real conditional values instead of just spamming everything on gcd for the most part.

Used this in battle for Azeroth on my hunter in mythic raiding. Had one button for single target and one for aoe. Topped dps in almost every fight. Its an amazing macro for people who have a hard time learning rotations or have disabilities.

For those raging about this ruining the fun of the game, I completely disagree. I stopped playing DPS years ago because I just don’t have fun doing a complex minigame rotation over and over and over again. I don’t need there to be 15 “do damage” buttons that need to pressed in a specific order. Id rather have 2-3 “do damage” button and for everything else to be situational utility. This addon is super compelling and It might mean I actually try DPS again.

@@mikeoxlong3676 I've never understood why people think a complex rotation is needed for fun or for the game to require skill. I'm not here to play action-bar wack-a-mole. I'm here to experience an epic world and overcome cool challenges within it. There is a reason games like FPSes, League or Diablo work so well and yet still have a high skill ceiling. Hell even ESO makes an MMO work with minimal action buttons. WoW was not built on complex rotations, its just this tumor that slowly has been added over time.

Same, rotations should not exist in games. It feels like being a "production line worker". 2-3 damage abilities, maybe positional, and the actual fun should come from situational awareness and usage of max 2-3 utility abilities. I actually liked the good old DAoC a lot in that regard.

I've always been a fan of using a single button for abilities. It allows me to see more of what's happening in raids during fights, rather than getting overly focused on managing my abilities. In fact, in Rift, my character's name was OneButtonMan.

@itslit1998 I don’t use just one button for WoW. It might have been possible back in Draenor, but in Legion, they added a global cooldown to many abilities, which messed up a lot of my macros. However, the fewer buttons I have to press, the more I can focus on other aspects of raid and dungeon encounters.

you can setup mod keys with in the tool /cast [mod:shift] power you can even do @cursor /cast [mod:shift, @cursor] power you can also use castsequence with mod keys /castsequence [mod:shift] power, power

I'm 59, but don't yet need an addon like this. I enjoy being fully engaged in my rotation and control of my characters. *That said*.... Blizz has stated on their forums several times that GSE is fine and does not violate their TOS. I applaud the authors for making WoW more accessible to more folks. Let everyone play the way they want so long as it doesn't break the rules or create an unfair advantage against other players.

Now this looks like something that would greatly benefit players who play WoW on a portable device, such as Steam Deck. Personally, even though I'd started WoW back in my twenties, and had made some good progress (Elite Cataclysmic Gladiator Pala gear is still my go-to Xmog), I'm now in my forties and I can't follow with the game's logic anymore + I've got a lot happening IRL (wife, work etc). The Steam Deck has rekindled my interest in the game, and the ConsolePort addon has helped a lot, but a one-button addon is also a great idea for playing the game while also juggling other stuff at the same time (like the countless phone calls from clients, family members, friends, etc) or while doing some much-needed treadmill exercise. I love it!!!

A few years back I was recovering from an injury and could not sit for long periods of time. I ended up modifying my switch to run android and then streamed games from my pc while I was recovering in bed. I eventually trialed the consoleport addon for wow and spent several weeks leveling an alt. Something like this would have been a god send back then and I am now wondering if I should try level another alt this way.

I love this game and have played on and off for years but I always end up laying it down because I have multiple disabilities that make it extremely difficult to keep up with rotations and not being able to compete in top tier content really sucks, this right here is going to be a major game changer for me and I cant thank the author for creating it and Hammerdance for making this walkthrough enough. you've saved one of my all time favorite games for me.

I came across this today, had just come back to the game because of my friend who wanted me to come play with him. I am 50, my fingers and hand are not like it use to be, and i have eye issues now which can't really look in oen eye but tno 100%. I personally have always wanted to have a macros for Mortal Strike and whenever it was on cd cast Slam instead and same with shaman and Elemental Blast/Lightning Bolt. Having the ability to have a Macro that casts a different spell when the main one is on CD is really useful specially in current wow when there's so much button bloat.

Back in Vanilla, it was something like this that i loved being able to use macros as my first tank, had 3 buttons that did everything and made me feel more confident knowing that I was doing "everything" possible to keep aggro. Was so annoyed when it was removed as a "normal" feature.

On weakauras you just google someone else's build and then copy+paste.. (for the same spec and class as you) .. I usually copy mine from KZbinr or Twitch streamers that i like

Most I've tried my dps is about half of what it normally is using these. There are probably some good ones out there but I've yet to find one that performs well. I could see this program working better if you are designing sequences for personal use based off your playstyle and build.

I’m using this kind of castsequence macro’s for many years on my guardian druid, feral and bm hunter. I made a base castesequence so I’m always casting a spel. For my feral I use a single target macro on 2 and the aoe is on 3. On 1 I have my interupt. Other things like cd’s I cast manualy. And yes, I’m old and not so fast. So for me it works. On my healers I use Helium, also easy to play. I get KSM every season playing like this.

TBF, GSE was good for me while learning my rotation and looking at what was running via details!, but nowadays, I noticed very little difference and it felt like I wasnt exactly controlling my character with any precision. Good for those who are not able to use a keyboard fully and newbies, but a bit restrictive for seasoned players tha are used to more options

I gave this add-on a try with BOA for a good month,well my English suxx so that was a problem. I keep working on it and noticed that I have to have the exact same talents picked to make it work which I dislike . I have been using this addon for years and I still have a old Logitech G510 Keyboard that has 18 macro keys, I use only 6 but I can set it to repeat toggled or while pressed so I dont have to mash a key and using toggle with autotarget in a macro I can hit it and walk away and it will just keep attacking whatever pops up which helps since I have had arthritis and I cant manually hit the buttons cause all the extra finger movement hurts .

OML i literally have neck/back/shoulder injuries and this kinda stuff has stopped me from playing for the longest time, thanks so much!!! GSE is awesome when I started wow I played the old way up until I want to say Wrath or Cata and I found a Macro king something addon that allowed you to expand I used that all the way up to the first form of GSE and been using GSE ever since. Love Tim with all the macros he did over the years. and there has been some new ones last couple of xpans doing a wonderful job making macros

The only thing that "could" get you trouble is if you bin this on a keyboard/mouse makro maybe. so you time it at precast/GCD times. There were some issues back 100 year ago when they banned the reactive macros. Yes, this was a great thing in the beginning, where you had true one-button dps and heal. Call me lazy, ok. It's not chating, because it's not a 3d party programm, but uses ingame mechanics.

the title "top dps" is really misleading. it is an addon that helps you take some convolution off of the game and let you focus on certain other things, like mechanics and whatnot, but you sacrifice a lot of flexibility and flat out damage for this. sure for people who are just playing for fun in the openworld or have disabilities i can totally see how that can be a huge blessing and i think its great it exists. so if you wanna delibierately practice mechanics i might see a small value for people who might be completely new or easily overwhelmed, but i would argue it doesnt help you learning your rotation at all. you use this addon so that you dont need to pay attention to that, so how are you gonna learn it? you dont. and if you were to practice your rotation without this addon, at some point you dont need to focus on it that much where you can learn the mechanics because everything else is muscle memory. so if anything this is a great addon for handicapped people, people that just wanna play "easy" content and just wanna have fun. obviously anyone who wants to do higher m+ keys, hc/mythic raids, you are not the target audience for this addon and theres no need to pretend that this is some evil addon. that being said, dont jump into higher keys or higher raids with that addon either expecting youre doing amazing damage. you will probably get kicked for the low dps. if that type of content is your goal, i would assume its best to not use this addon at all and just get comfortable with your spec and then all the mechanics the game throws at you. dont expect to beat harder content without any kind of effort.

It has no bearing on other players and doesn’t affect other players to any extent that couldn’t be achieved naturally. I tested it btw and it only beats the healer on dps charts even a fire mage topped it

@@zak4tt4ck do you understand how this works? Quick question how long do you think this has been in the game? Because stuff like this has been in for a long time. Heck during wrath this was how hunters did top DPS and you know what happened? Blizzard didn’t want players to feel they needed to do a one button macro to compete because it might not be fun so they adjusted hunters so that you weren’t forced to do it. This has been a thing in every expansion and you haven’t been forced to do it and it hasn’t affected you till now. And it is in no way cheating if you understand that blizzard allows you to do this and have confirmed it multiple times

@@zak4tt4ck I’ll explain to you how this works, if you have 4 buttons you cast during combat (A,B,C,D) A has a 5 second cooldown, B has a 10 second cooldown, C has no cooldown, D has a 30 second cooldown but is off the GCD. You can physically press all four buttons at once and achieve the exact same outcome because that’s what this is doing, if you use multiple fingers you aren’t cheating are you? And if you use this you will always be at a basic disadvantage, if you use this you cannot choose to save a cooldown doing this so that cooldown you don’t want to pop on the add with 2% health is getting your 30 second cooldown right before the boss.

I am playing with controller and ConsolePort myself. I have many more buttons within reach than with the keyboard, usually using the triggers to switch the layout, for example, which multiplies the number of buttons.

look, I get why this is a quality of life feature and how it can and would be useful or helpful. I've been playing retail wow since 2009, wow has gotten completely different since then. But its the challenge's through remembering more intense key binds and rotation memorization that makes great players and better players. No offense intended but I think of this one key bind for all thing is lazy and pretty limiting. I have found personally that utilizing less of your keyboard bindings, and offload those binds to a 12 button MMO mouse. It's weird getting used to at first, now now I cant see how i played without it. It's somewhere in between the two with going the easy way or the hard way to learn your spec . Remember, if you never try to do anything hard, youll never get better at it.

You know, this is very useful, especially for those that would otherwise have to memorize the rotation from IcyVeins. It should update after class balancing and tweaking, allegedly, so if anything this may teach the optimal rotation. And it's good for folks with one hand, gout or arthritis.

The people making the Sequence macros definitely need to fix them. I tried my Mage talents & Rotation, 500k ST dps. And I had Flamestrike AoE build, not Single Target build. Tried the talents and sequence macro, 250k dps. Tried Arms Warrior sequence, 280k ST dps. My rotation 460-520k ST dps. Note that I am using the MAXDPs macros for all classes, so It highlights each spell for me so that I always have the best possible rotation. (WEll, not really the best, since that one doesn't account for enemy HP% so sometimes It'll be telling me to use a 30+ sec CD on a low hp trashs mob, even though there's ofc going to be another big pull right afterwards)

Shoot we used to do this back in the day with ret and arms. You don't even need an addon. You can make it in the in-game macro creator just type /m in the chat.

I used GSE in Dragongflight for my pally and feral Druid. I was always in the top 3 dps, even with better geared players. Was so nice just to sit back and butting spam. Lol

Either the ppl making the macros were better up to date then, or you were playing with bots ☠ I just tried my Single target rotation vs both Arms & Fire mage GSE, and I was pulling steady 500k. Macro was pulling 250k, since It doesn't account for things like Execution procs or when my Mortal Strike is enhanced. Same for Fire Mage, It doesn't throw your instant Pyroblasts, or even touch Pyroblast at all. I'd suggest swapping it out for MaxDPS macro on Forge. It will highlight all your skills so you can press them in perfect order, and It accounts for things like Instant procs or empowered strikes.

Anyone who says that this is a bad thing for stupid reasons like "they do more dps than me without playing properly" should maybe learn to play their class, because I quarantee you can have a higher dps output if you also use your abilities reactively. WoW should be accessible to people and at the same time have a high skill expression cap for people who want to tryhard. The addition of more casual and accessible playstyles and gamemodes, or addons in this case, doesn't take anything away from anyone!

'Doesn't take anything away from anyone' ---- Until there's a limited amount of spots in a raid group and you're left out because the person using this addon is doing higher DPS. There is people with bad skills that don't want to rely on cheese addons like this to pretend they're (moderately) good at the game, they want to play the game like it's intended, by learning and doing the rotation as well as they can do based on their innate skills. I'm not saying ban the addon, but don't pretend it will never take away opportunities from other people that want to learn the 'regular way' to learn their class and perform in a raid environment.

@@mimitan sorry, didn't see your reply until now. I can see your point, but there's two things I want to point out regarding your concern about the addon. First, how well do you think people who have to use an addon like this will perform doing raid mechanics correctly? You could say it is easier for them to focus on the mechanics, because they only have to press one button to do dps, but I dare say that people who have to use an addon like this to deal better dps will not keep track of the raid mechanics and will more likely fuck up. I am not mythic raiding anymore, but I will always take a dps who deals 100-200k less dps, but never fails mechanics over someone doing a bit more dps, but not paying attention to anything else. And again: you can 100% do more dps if you actually press the skills yourself. Just need practice. Second thing, do you really think a guild progressing with people that use one button dps addons take the game that seriously? Flex raids make it so these casual guilds don't have to bench anyone and, trust me, this addon wont cause the problem you describe in any guild progressing mythic, where you are locked to 20 man. Personally I think its great people who need this have it and can also enjoy the game with us. These one button players are also usually the most fun ones in guild voip 😉

the problem is have with gse, as it is current as it does keybindings. so if i make an alt use it as the 1 button. then it takes away the 1 button on every bar, before it used to be a macro. but it isnt the thing anymore. nothing sucks more than having my vechile button not use one. or my dragonflying button not able to use 1. its my only gripe with it. but i wish i could create a button to push another button so i can make it an awarkard keybind and then use a button to push that keybind.
