I''ve owned a T6 from 1999 couple of months this year, to me it surely did feel like a drivers car, terrifyingly fast cornering, impeckable stability control, no vagueness at all. I was glad to be able to sell it, because of the fuel consumption, it had the 4 speed geartronic and did 6 kilometres with one litre..But it was fun flooring it on the autobahn, although above 210 kph I did notice a slight disconnection to the road which kept me from trying the topspeed of 250, max speed I drove was 230 on a very good piece of road without traffic and weather.

Jeremy Clarkson on 1998 was actually a motor journalist of reference despite it's polemical points of view. Jeremy Clarkson nowadays is just a senile mediatized clown star.

Buy the German cars for their image said Quentin Willson, Audi lasted till 2011 Merc only till 2007 ! while the sensible solid Swede is still on the road ( as at 10/2019) Sometimes substance wins over image...!

I just bought my 99 S80 2.4 I couldn't be happier. Interior looks like months old only and it runs and drives even better than many modern new sedans I've tried!

I doubt people buying Mercs and Audis straight out of dealerships really care about running them for the rest of time... That's more of a problem for the second hand buyers afterwards and that is where the Volvo wins!

The W210 is absolute sxxte, it's astonishing anyone walked past the e39 and bought one. Rusting after 3 years with a gimcrack interior Ceausescu would have been ashamed of. Utter dross, the car that nearly destroyed Mercedes

Cougar was shocking. Following the shambolic probe they should have learnt their lessson. The capri succeeded as there wasnt the wide range of rivals plus it was in an era when people trusted and chose british. Cougar came into an era with 406 coupe preludes celicas and even lower end 3 series coupes it was never going to sell. The puma however was great. Also goes to show clarksons rants didnt sell or break cars despite what some think. He creams himself over this maybe down to a backhanded brown envelope from ford cos its merely average and lambasts the original vectra which sold in huge numbers.

Jezza Clarkshoes lays down a great Cooganesque Gareth Cheeseman fanfare of the Cougar, " You're a ... Cougar, grrr roar"; only thing that's missing are the string-backed gloves. Strangely, now, it was trying to appeal to the toyboy reps rather than their mature female sponsors. And no, this isn't the episode Tiffb gets his adenoidsb removedb. Wonderful description of the Volvo S80 T6's poor power steering by the Beeb's own day-walker Quentin Wilson and a intriguing pop-up Nav system for the time.
