I remember that back I'm the early 90s I had a Performance Car mag (I think?) that featured this lovely car (550bhp) It also featured an older Aston Martin Vantage with the 5.3 V8 (minus superchargers) that had been tuned and taken out to 7ltr with 500+bhp. They had a breakdown of both cars acceleration figures, top speed, in gear times etc. They were very well matched with the acceleration figures being very, very close (sometimes the supercharged hit a speed slightly quicker, then the 7ltr hit the next 10mph quicker back and forth like that all the way to 150mph from what I remember. So, after all that, what I want is the twin supercharged Vantage with a 7ltr conversion and uprated blowers etc. The perfect Dream Vantage!

Up until the new one with the dull sounding AMG engine (arguably no longer a real Aston), every Vantage has been epic if I remember correctly
@dannykeeley90052 жыл бұрын
Hmm, you could argue that aston martin have been a ford/jaguar since the nineties. Like it or not the amg engine would probably be more powerful, reliable and definitely cheaper than the new v8 they wanted to develop. Unfortunately it's the way of the world these days to use other cars components to keep the price down.
@sarcastic.not.unkind2 жыл бұрын
@@dannykeeley9005 the 4.0 AMG is a good engine, but it sounds nowhere near as good as the previous Vantage V8. A big part of that is due to restrictions, so it's not all AMG's fault, just a shame and the way it goes these days

Great car, but WHY all the hideous, cheap, Ford switchgear and stock steeringwheel - the way the oval indent in the wheel for the Ford badge has been used for the Aston badge!! - It's for this reason that the contemporary Bentley Continental R was just so much better value (they were priced about the same). For £170,000, it's just not acceptable. The engine may have been hand made - but then so was the Bentley's. A real shame they couldn't have got the finishing touches right.
@roadwarrior1447 жыл бұрын
Ag Photographic Aston Martin was, financially, on their knees during this period of time. They spent money where it mattered: the engine, the body design, and the interior materials like the wood and the leather. Aston Martin couldn’t afford to have bespoke switchgear steering wheel for their cars. It would’ve cost them far too much to buy all of those parts, in bulk, that this project probably would’ve been cancelled. But, let’s be honest, when everyone is staring at you as you are driving (roaring) around in your very own Aston Martin do you really care about the switches and the Ford steering wheel?
