Pretty simple video! Equipment that is being installed. Assembling the landing gear and making a scale front light from the Unilight kit and the scale bits on the gear. Thanks for watching!

Yes Unilights are very nice. Very bright and well made. It was nice to see the addition of the 8 channel and programming via usb. I have a few of the Black 4 controllers and although fine pretty limited and programming is a bit finicky

Beautiful work on the gear! Really looking forward to seeing it weathered and complete. Im nearly finished with paint and graphics on mine. Always happy and ready to see the next installment! Hoping to see you at Jets over Kentucky this year! Side note I wish you had shown the filling of the oil as mundane as it is! I struggle getting this right and would love to see your process!
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! Oh dang! didn't even think about that. Basically add some oil through the allen key fitting. cycle the gear. Add more, cycle the gear and continue this till at the full compression point it's not sucking in air. If you don't add enough it will have an undampened spot near full travel. i'm sure you know all of that already but that's my process.

I was waiting to see what turbines you were choosing to go in this and I was not disappointed. Definitely subscribing because I really would like to see how you balance things out. Though I do have to ask something from a total turbine noob perspective. You suggested that you may detune this based on a comment that there is too much power for this design and that flutter was a possibility. If that is the case, why not go with a smaller turbine? Swiwin SW190B put at 190N @ ~1.5kg each whereas detuning these to a similar output @ ~1.9kg each. It's a little more than 1.7lbs of extra weight for the same output. Fuel consumption seems higher as well which I would think would mean less fly time. Total turbine RC noob, definitely not a bash nor a criticism. Just trying to learn. Thank you and I'm really looking forward to seeing more! Served on an aircraft carrier with the real thing. Never got tired of seeing these fly.
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dee. All great questions and thanks for tuning in! 1st answer is the owner is supplying all the main equipment and that's what he want's in the aircraft. As long as you know how to use the throttle stick (sounds rudimentary but some don't) engines like this can be a ton of fun. doing most of your flying between 1/4-1/2 throttle, slow pass down low and go to full and pull up! It's a rush and it's nice to have the power when needed. Often with larger engines your fuel consumption is better than a smaller engine in the same aircraft. with a turbine, the fuel consumption curve is not linear. so most of your consumption is happening in the upper part of the throttle range. So if your flying an engine that barely flies the aircraft your using more fuel than a larger turbine. Yes your going to add more weight in engines but that is generally minor with an aircraft this size.
@DeeEhm
@DeeEhm 2 жыл бұрын
@@thelightersideofrc Thank you very much for the response! I have been looking everywhere for fuel consumption curves as most only publish peak fuel consumption. I have been curious about oversizing engines to reduce fuel consumption but never could find somewhere that showed it does and by how much. Same with power, I imagine it is not linear either. Unfortunately, there are no RC turbine dyno sheets either. :D Keep up the great work sir.

210s are way too much for this model, mine has 166s and that is more than it needs. This model has an speed range that if exceeded will cause flutter everywhere. Also you will have a rough time getting afterburners in this model since the pipes take up most of the opening of the turkey feathers. Sorry to sound negative and ultimately the owner can use what ever just food for thought. Cheers!
@thelightersideofrc
@thelightersideofrc 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Keith. Totally understand. These 210's will most likely be down tuned. the 14 that is flying in Eastern Canada is powered with 190's and it's a great fit for the aircraft. I have a plan for the turkey feathers/tail pipe area😉

So Happy to see you getting a Jeti. I have been using Jeti for about 4 years now and last year sold my Jr28x. Loved the 28x hardware but the software was a dead end and was years behind everything else. As a jet guy Jeti really shines, no need for a gsu as all the telemetry is on the transmitter and on my twin I can control each turbine separately then flip a switch and they are running together. Also there are hundreds of tutorial videos on how to setup any possible thing that you would want to do. Here is a link to one of the most knowledgeable persons on jeti. kzbin.infovideos

what is it with you guys in the US of always wanting to overpower your jets...?? My Skymaster Tomcat ( 28kg's dry) has 2 Graupner G-Boosters 160+ turbines tuned back to 15kg's of thrust, and that is plenty of thrust for a nice, realistic flight......
