I will always remember the Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson logo with the lighting starting some of the best movies of the 80's and 90's. Days of Thunder, The Rock, Top Gun, Bad Boys, Crimson Tide, Beverly Hills Cop

I grew up under the single lightning bolt logo of his solo work, honestly didnt even really notice the double lightning intros until I was in high school and simultaneously learning about the industry. Seeing the double bolt before Maverick was a bit of a surprise, tho I suppose it shouldn’t have been, and just gave you a great feeling when you saw it and realized.

Absolutely cannot believe this got nominated for best picture. The Oscar’s think that will help save the Oscar’s, but they are actually driving away the only people who would ever watch the Oscar’s. By nominating movies like top gun, they are making the award completely meaningless, I won’t be watching this year

I painted the Jerry Bruckheimer production banner (the lightning striking the tree on a hwy) when I was in high school art class in 1997. He was one of the first people I identified as an "author" of the movie I liked.
