Not necessarily. Properties are cheaper there but interest rates are high nationwide. Home insurance isn’t cheaper there, property taxes aren’t comparable by province but rather by city/town. Repairs costs would be generally cheaper in AB vs ON

Lol! You can definitely do outright payment if you have the cash and value being debt-free over getting a mortgage and investing the difference. Vancouver is one of the most expensive cities in Canada. Price depends on a bunch of factors but could easily be over a million dollars for a decent freehold property in Van-city. Zolo.ca has all the prices, you can check properties out there.
