RBS 56 is a Swedish ATGM, standard anti armour arm for the Swedish army at the late 80's and 90's. Improved at the middle 90's with double warheads (BILL2). The warheads is weaker than in the US TOW, but instead the ATGM is flying above the target with the warheads pointed downwards. The BILL2 ATGM has a better effect on heavy tanks with additional armour and there is also selectable modes for direct hit and for effect in buildings and light armoured vehicles. As the ATGM is laser guided it can not be fooled to miss. There has been plannes and testing for putting the RBS 56 on vehicles as PBV 302, PBV 401 (MtLb) and Strf 90 (CV90), but none of those was putted into charge.

The BILL 2 Missile uses a SACLOS or semi-automatic command to line-of-sight guidance system, and is controlled via a communications wire that trails behind the missile from the launch tube. The BILL 2 warhead has an optical and magnetic sensor. The optical sensor serves to find the target's range, while the magnetic sensor detects metallic targets to determine the best point for the missile to detonate. The BILL 2 contains both a proximity fuse and an inertial impact fuse. The BILL 2 is armed with a pair of vertically striking Explosively formed penetrator warheads, which each direct a self-forging slug of metal downwards at extreme velocities using a high explosive blast. The 40mm frontal "precursor" warhead destroys any reactive armour protecting the target and leaves the 110mm rear warhead to penetrate the armour. Total penetration capabilities are classified, but are known to be at least 550mm in rolled homogeneous armor. Edit: war thunder is biased to Russia ERA, this warhead was designed to penetrate t-80 and t-90 with ERA.

Overflight missiles are pretty cool, some of them use a HEAT warhead, but others actually use an EFP. An EFP is generally something thin-ish that will crumple and form a penetrator after a small, very specifically shaped set of explosives goes off. They don't really have that high of a sectional density, but because they are going off within ten feet of a target in that type of missile they can rely on ridiculous velocity to force a thin brittle projectile through the weak top armor. once it penetrates it spalls and sprays fragments all over the place. which is aided by the fact that it is unlikely there will be a substantial spall liner on the roof. against russian style tanks that have the ammo stowage around the turret ring they are absolutely devastating. One weakness of overflight missiles is that due to the relatively thin diameter they can support for a HEAT warhead, penetrative power can be an issue. usually that doesn't matter because the turret top is the weakest part of most tanks.

It's not just a shaped charge. It detonates above the target, destroys ERA with the first charge and then detonates down through the armour with the second main charge. It's a tandem charge with the first charge detonating ERA, so it's very obviously modeled very wrong in the game as ERA shouldn't stop it.

You said about the missile launcher retracting, basically its just for a lower profile, I always thought it was to ease the reload through the hatch on the top back deck of the Bradley, but the guys that were out mech infantry actually told me they reloaded it while it was raised, because they could angle it up, and help them put the TOW in the launcher. Probably the same reason with this vehicle, not 100% sure, I was on an M1A1/M1A2, so I wasnt privy to all the infantry secrets lol

as i know, top attack atgm's are useing a normal heat charge, but it faces down, and has a metal detector (or i dont know how it is called in english), and when it is over something, that contains a lot of metal, it detonates it's charge(s). some of these type atgm's also have a charge, that faces forwards (like a normal atgm), and the tow-2b (aero) has 3 charges (2 down, 1 forward). but if i am wrong, everyone can correct me

The Bill 2 missile or RBS 56b is a tandem warhead which means it shoots a 40mm precursur to destroy any ERA on the roof and then the main charge gets set of shooting down on the area with no era left

The STRF 9056 test vehicle (only one build) had the Bill 2. but it doesn’t matter, no modern tank can absorb the main charge from Bill 1 anyway. It has at least 510mm RHA, and it strike ERA perpendicular thus greatly reduces the performance of the ERA.

its not a big heat charge , its all about the explosive mass , its an ATGM , but by function it act like H.E.S.H, you dont need a big high penetration warhead to penetrate the roof of any turret , the armor is think , the explosive mass do everything , push and crack the hatches , destroy anything on the turret , damage ports of optics , sensors , once the hatches are pushed inside the explosion (calorific energy) will detonate the ammo

So idk how those particular missiles work, however, all TOW 2B and up have this sort of technology called fly over shoot down where basically when it detects a large metallic object it will shoot out 2 tandem warheads(shape charges) and the reason for the 2 is because the first one will knock out that ERA and the second one will penetrate the armor(about 36 inches of homogeneous steel) now these missiles can also shoot line of sight where the missile will fly directly at your crosshairs, where as fly over shoot down will fly about 2.5 meters above them. By default is on fly over shoot down need to select line of sight mode. Again that is only for TOW 2 Bs and up I have no idea about those missile.
