What a fun time the 60s were. There was so much hope for the future. Jean Shrimptons Slicker and Oh De London ads were the best. As a girl I owned a book about her too. She was the most gorgeous woman of her time and everyone wanted to be her or Marianne Faithfull. Then came the 79s and it's been downhill ever since in my opinion.

She was so beautiful as I’m sure she still is. I stayed at her hotel in Penzance. It was stylishly decorated coz she was a friend of Geoffrey Bennison, one of the great interior designers in the 70’s. My father worked for Geoffrey so knew Jean. When I was born she bought me a cute dress from Harrods which I treasure. X

I wish these biographies would stop referring to Twiggy as the Cockney Girl who .... She has a strong London working class accent that is not east of the city making her a cockney by definition. She is from North London. This is lazy reporting

I want a wife who looks like Jean Shrimpton in her prime.. I don't care about Cradi B and Nicky whatsherface..they are vulgar, crass and outright offensive

This is misleading in that the "mini-skirt" that was so scandalous was just a couple of inches above her knees, not the super minis shown here. She said the modeling industry was full of dark people - I admired her for getting away from that. Of course, by the time she did leave, she had probably made millions of dollars. She was a beauty

I read her autobiography and she said the Models in her day we’re not paid the huge amounts that models are paid today

Suzy Parker was on the cover of LIFE magazine when Jean was still a shrimp. Wasn't that a national weekly?

Looking back at Vogue across the decades, I think Jean Shrimpton and Suzy Parker had very similar roles. Stunningly beautiful, inviting smiles, poised.

If Jean is Number 3, who is their number 1- she's not "below" Twiggy I hope!?! Twiggy is still a "stunner" but she was never on Shrimpton's level- for haute couture- designed for "the older woman" - witness those felt hats, quite unbecoming IMHO, must-have to be well dressed in the periods just before Jean, The Shrimp came along- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel- Jean looked like a woman, ideal, though very young, for the mid-age woman fashions, Twiggy not so much. Number 3! Well to each his own. Lousy taste if you don't mind my humble opinion! Ranking women, will it ever stop? Women tried in the 60's and 70's I gather- no makeup came into " vogue"- sure didn't last. When I look at some of the freaky faces now, I shudder. If I went out with one of them, 5" heels, cantaloupe fake boots, makeup thickly applied over fake features- repulsive, an affront to femininity....Namaste World of Wonders
