We listen, we don't judge...I am 36 and I just watched The Color Purple (original) for the first time this year. All my life our community has made jokes referencing the movie and now there's memes...I had no idea and couldn't really connect the joke. I just laughed when everyone else laughed. Same for me. I grew up very very sheltered. So most 'black classic' movies were off limits. By the time I was old enough to make my own choices my movie tastes had already developed. I don't like silly comedy, I don't like violence, and I don't like 'urban struggle' movies. I dont really care about the lack of technology and CGI and whatnot, I'm watching for the story. I keep trying to watch the classics for the culture but I missed the moment.
