@ozonespec NOT TRUE AT ALL !!! In the past there was, 'DEFENSE,' and players actually tried to stop you from scoring. Now don't play defense on YOU because they don't want you to play defense on themselves. 😂

@@ozonespec Do you know what a non sequitur is? It's like if someone says, "It's raining outside" and you respond with, "Yeah, but 2+2=4". It's a response that has nothing to do with the statement said right before. It literally means, "it does not follow". @MrRukiddin said scoring 40 points pre-3 point shot was impressive, for obvious reasons. It means over and over and over again, you had to break down real defenses that were trying to hack you, beat up on you and knock you to your ass. Your response was, "yeah, but that person was a ball hog." Hahahahaha, what does that have to do with it still being impressive as heck?

I saw wilt play when he was with the SF warriors in the 60’s many times as a teenager playing for Geo. Washington high school. I stood next to him after a game while he sat on a folding chair down on the floor. His socks came up to mid chest on me and i was 5’11 at the time. Completely dumbstruck. He was the strongest, fastest, and most athletic player of all time. Bill Russell agreed that he was the “greatest player that has ever lived”. i am very fortunate to have witnessed his greatness. It was a custom of mine to take my ball to the games in the early 70s. Once the clock struck zero, I was on the floor shooting and talking trash. During the Lakers 33-game streak, they played the Bullets. I decided this opportunity was too good to pass up. Wilt was on his way to get his gym bag when I approached him for an autograph. I stood right in front of him. I've never seen a human being sweat like that! His headband was soaked. His wristbands were soaked, I thought no one would believe this. He gently moved me aside, grabbed his stuff, and left!

You need to qualify that statement with the words 'regular season'. Because that's where most of his records were set. As soon as the real season began, he wasn't nearly the same dominant player. Do you know who owns the most records in the post season? Michael Jordan. Do you know who has the most 40 point games in the post season? Michael Jordan. So you can take your bottom feeder bully, Wilt, and his regular season scoring heroics because most sensible people are going to take Jordan and his post season scoring heroics.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan 30.12. Wilton Norman Chamberlain 30.07 Even. 4. The only player to score 4000 points in a season ? Wilton Norman Chamberlain. 5. The player with the most 40+ points per games career ? Wilton Norman Chamberlain 271 Michael Jeffrey Jordan 173 Not even close Wilton Norman Chamberlain. 6.The player who the NBA change the rules to make the game more difficult for that player ? Wilton Norman Chamberlain. 7.The player who the NBA change the rules to make the game more easier for that player ? Michael Jeffrey Jordan 8.Didn't factor championships because that a team accomplishment. But if factored, Bill Russell would get that point. 9. The 60s, 70s and 80s were the best competition for NBA with great teams and great players such as Julius Irving, Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, Larry Bird, Bill Russell and so on, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant would have been role players in this Era. 10. There's a small group of players who would have dominated in any Era and at the top of the list would be Wilton Norman Chamberlain. No more talk, the greatest player of all time ? WILTON NORMAN CHAMBERLAIN.

These comparisons are meaningless without adjusting for league and team rate of play. During certain eras of the NBA, the game was slower and/or defenses better and/or rules favored defense more. Scoring a certain percent of your team's points (or maybe your opponent's points) is what matters. Even then it doesn't mean you were a better scorer, because you could be playing in an era when the rules and strategies favored one star player scoring all the points, vs. a team offense approach.

What's crazy is that MJ put up those numbers during the toughest defensive era AND won.

Now do the playoffs.....you know, the post season? Where defenses are dialled up to 100, where the intensity is at its greatest, where the stakes are at their highest and where there are no bottom feeder teams to bully. Wilt did not excel to nearly the same extent in that environment. He faded in the playoffs then faded even more in the Finals. As the stakes rose, his performances fell. The opposite is true for Jordan, as the stakes rose so did his performances. Most 40 point playoff games: 1. 38 - Michael Jordan . . . . . 7. 13 - Wilt Chamberlain That says it all...everything you need to know about Wilt and the type of player he was. Am I saying he wasn't great? No, he's an all time great....he's just not THE greatest. That's Jordan.
