Unfortunately in Europe we are not very detailed about stats as they are on the other side of the ocean, however I do believe Spanoulis has hit the most game winners and decisive shots in late game situations than anybody in the history of Euroleague and that says something about his mentality...! Stat keeping in Europe is on an amateur level compared to the NBA indeed. Over there they've figured out decades ago that basketball is a game of possessions, which is why they keep stats like offensive/defensive rating, pace etc. For instance a team that scores 100 points per game can have a better offense than a team that scores 105 if the second team has significantly more possessions per game. Simply looking at point per game doesn't say the whole story. Here in Europe they're yet to figure that out.

The most crazy thing with Spanoulis is that he has so many tough and clutch shots in his career that you could make a top 50!!! He took a team with random mediocre foreign players and young Greek players and led them to 2 EuroLeague titles and 2 finals. Imagine if he had better teammates what he could accomplish. In terms of accolades Giannis is by far the first, followed by Dirk, Pau, Parker, Jokic and Kukoc. As of Spanoulis and some other guys like Saras, Bodiroga, Diamantidis etc the talent was also there but unfortunately they peaked during the most physical era of the NBA so a decent career overseas was somehow impossible during the 00s.

Galis Sabonis Petrovic Nowitzki Giannis Luka Jokic all better than Spanoulis. Also, Kukoc Gasol Navarro Saras Bodiroga Diamantidis Ginobili Parker Kirilenko Stojakovic at least as good as Spanoulis if not better some of them. You can make a case for Spanoulis as the most clutch player of all time though and thats why i have huge respect for him. Big Respect to Vassilis Spanoulis

since you dont know him at all , its a pity he left nba after a season only 06-07, he d be equivalent of dragic ginobili by now competing and improving with the best , van gundy didnt use him at all in houston but before coming over the gm told him he would get suficient minutes and he felt betrayed , he got frustrated and left besides having a good contract , tony parker and popovic wanted him to stay asnd tried to convince him to play for the spurs after they got him in a trade with houston , but he was dissapointed and left since he wanted to play and had an ''ego'' after beeing the player that killed the 2006 usa team 3 months before coming over to the nba, he felt he was proven and not a regular rookie that had to earn playing time, if he stayed he would prove himself i am sure , the big surprise was that after coming back to europe from only 1 season in the nba he was noticeably quicker and more explosive in his drives , that has to say something about the level of training and conditioning the nba has to offer ,and how well they would develop him there , what CANT be taught is the clutch ability , he must be one of the clutchest players in bball history if you check his game winner videos , everyone knows where the ball is going in crunch time , but cant do much since he has an almost unguardable side/back step 3pt and thats why luka loved him , kobe has said good things about him also after the 2006 game and facing him in 2008 olympics , here are some of the rare minutes he played mostly garbage time in the nba kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXvUmpSPfJKHjM0
