Easily the greatest songs of that era. I am amazed how many of them have been covered and been great hits all over again

And some people can be racist for real... I can't. As a white European man I can say that Black people are precious, they are very talented in music and dancing. White people were for many centuries very stiff both in music and dancing. Ancient, medieval, renaissance, baroque, classicism, 19 century and then Black Americans took instruments of white people and they gave their African energetic magic into it. Blues, jazz, ragtime, gospel, rock n roll, r&b, soul, funk, disco, hi-nrg, rap, hip-hop. Thanks to Black people the music of 20th and 21st centuries is energetic and so awesome. Lot of love 😇

If I hear this playlist as I walk down the street and it makes me cry each time we meet. Just walk on by and if you don't mind stand by me, whenever you're in trouble. Your playlist is so fine like sunshine or a ramblin rose. Hopefully we'd let some good times roll in today's music shoot them with a dot like cupid, so we can soothe our soul and I know oooh a change's gonna come and what a wonderful world it'd be. As Georgia is on my mind so too is this playlist. Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick The Ronnetes, The Chiffons, Betty Everett, the Supremes, etc. An A-list playlist.

Thanks for transporting us back to the Swinging 60's, all of these tunes are absolutely timeless! Etta James, Ben E. King and Chubby Checker are probably my favourite 60's Motown musical artists. 🎶💞

What they call r and b now is dishwater compared to these in this video. It has no soul zero zilch. This video is pure class

@@lsmith992 Absolutely false. It just isn’t your taste. It doesn’t mean it’s bad or “non-classy” or soulless. Also, many of the modern R&B and soul artists were inspired by these singers and the ones after them. What I recommend is to take your oldhead, close-minded, “everything was better back then,” stuck-up, arrogant, entitled ass and learn that what you and actually do useful things, like realizing others have tastes, asking for modern soul or R&B to recommend, and maybe open up your comfort zone to newer music, rather than ranting about the olden days. It’ll be useful for you. Not like what you’re doing now.

Modern artists were still influenced by the artists of the 60s to the 80s, and many new genres have been made with technology, fusions, and new musical ideas that sprung out of rhythm n’ blues and soul, so basically what you just spurted out is total ignorant and distasteful nonsense.

Great memories here. 😎🎶❤️ My Boy Lollipop is Ska and Chuck Berry is Rock and Roll and The Marcels Blue Moon is Doo Wop and all that Phil Spector stuff is a genre of music on its own.

How did we go from R&B/Soul like this with amazing singing and melodies to the tuneless, nasal and auto tuned crap we have in the charts these days?

Because it has no soul - it sounds like it's written by a computer There's no creativity evident in any of it

It’s not tuneless or nasal. It’s still music. Maybe some singers have a nasal quality, but it’s just not your taste. R&B and soul had many different evolutions within it, but maybe modern music just is not your taste. It doesn’t mean it’s bad. Some people like the newer R&B and soul, and some don’t. You can literally ask people around for modern artists to listen to, without sounding very entitled. And modern R&B and soul artists still have style, class and talent. I like myself some Ledisi or some Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean or some Daniel Caesar. There’s always something for everyone. So maybe try expanding your horizons a bit before you start acting like a close-minded oldhead even further.

@@lsmith992 Electronic and computer music still requires creativity and talent, and many genres like rhythm n’ blues and soul have made their way into different kinds of hip-hop, progressive soul, synth-funk, boogie, electro, house, and other modern genres like electronic dance music and jazz. Even so, autotune is just a vocal effect, as singers already have other types of production effects go on with their voice. Not like a plebeian like you would understand.

This video and the follow up for 65 to 69 are a very good argument for the 1960s music scene. This is just one genre and when you add rock/pop, along with country, folk (best decade for it), easy listening, and jazz. What a great decade for music

Thanks a lot, though I assume the next part will be even more interesting when very distinctive and even harsher sounds were produced in mid and late 60's. In this particular set two great moments were at 8:24 (young genius at work!) and 8:42 - way too short for me to recognize if that's a song that Janis Joplin covered few years after?
