That's a $70 rod in 2019. I've got the same set up except mine is a medium rod. I've got a 4/0 on the medium heavy.

For inshore Reds / specks etc I have a Penn Battle II 3000 and have 15 lb Power Pro Braid so I would have more line on the reel. I was needing your advice for what size fluorocarbon leader to place on it and how long of a leader ??? Thanks in advance for your thoughts !!

John Moye how many have you used? I've used a 3000 and a 6000 for a couple years of steady fishing on the gulf with no problems. If something happened tomorrow I've gotten my money's worth out of them.
