There is a process towards membership in the EU as well as NATO. That is what Ukraine agreed to. It doesn't happen overnight. It never has. Other former soviet countries are currently part of NATO bc they complied earlier and had democratic elections earlier etc.

I don’t understand why the world can’t give Ukraine more fighter jets to turn this around. Let them enforce their own no fly zone. They have a no-visa-needed policy and anyone (pilots?) can PERSONALLY go in to fight as a Ukrainian. No need for other “countries” to go in and start a WW.
