They used to have ambient smells on Main Street as well. The Candy Shoppe would blow chocolate smells onto the sidewalk, while the Sunkist House blew the smell of orange peels.

"Kree Kruh Vergo Gebba Kalto Kree" is Gujarati, and means "Do you know how much you're doing?", which fits, because you're raising those trapped in limbo, according the warning at the top of the page.

Just found your channel today. My mom worked for several Disney departments including helping start Disney vacation club, Disney institute and others, and while Disney is not a big part of my life now it still holds a lot of memories from my childhood and I love seeing other people's reactions who are so intrigued by everything Disney. Plus I enjoy how you present your videos as well. Great job!

KREE KRUTH (rhymes with Ruth) VIRGO GEBBA (with a hard G) KALTO KREE is what Dean Jones says in the Disney film Blackbeard's Ghost to bring the title character (Peter Ustanov) from limbo

Awesome fact! That's so cool and adds to the theory that the Haunted Mansion and Pirates are connected. I love that Disney put that little detail there even though most guests would never know or see it.
@thomasstanley30087 жыл бұрын
I just discovered this video today, and I am glad to see that someone else pointed this out in the comments! Also, I wanted to add that the exact same wording of "A spell to bring to your eyes and ears one who is bound in Limbo" is also written on the spell that Dean Jones discovers and then reads aloud in Blackbeard's Ghost. A bonus fact that ties together with Pirates of the Caribbean: before they included Jack Sparrow in the ride, there were two pirates attempting to carry a chest full of loot and various treasures up the incline at the end of the ride. One of the treasures on top of this chest was the portrait of Peter Ustinov as Captain Blackbeard from the same movie (Blackbeard's Ghost) which went along with the tradition of working in various movie props into the park attractions.

I'm actually from Fort Collins! The area Main Street is based off of is called Old Town and it looks a lot like main street. They've kept all of the original buildings and you can really see how it influenced Main Street.

This is my new favorite channel. I've been sitting here watching Disneyland KZbin videos for a few hours now, and I could not be happier that I found you. These videos seem very well-researched compared to other videos about Disneyland that seem to be fueled by more rumor than fact. Anyway, love Disneyland, keep up the great vids!

Actually the spell you mentioned was used in the 1960s Dean Jones movie, Blackbeard's Ghost. It's about a college track coach who comes to a small New England town famous for being a home port for The pirate Blackbeard. He stays at an inn built from old ships and said to be haunted by Blackbeard. When he finds an old spell book used by one of Blackbeard's wives to curse his soul, he accidentally brings forth to his eyes and ears Blackbeard's ghost! The rest is your typical 1960s screwball Disney comedy using special effects and slapstick for laughs as Blackbeard makes Dean Jones characters life a living hell. It's pretty good. Check it out.

I've got a bunch of old ticket books, some complete and some not. And I've got a bunch of random single tickets period It's unfortunate because it's one of those items that you would think would be valuable. They're really not period and they're really not that uncommon. Just look at eBay sometimes They're all over. Fun fact though if you take them with you to Disneyland they will give you credit for them based on their price as well as inflation. I've done that a couple times just for the fun of it to get a discount on the ticket back in the day

A memento mori is a piece of artwork meant to remind us of our mortality; of the fleeting nature of life. It also refers to the Victorian practice of photographing the dead as a way to remember them and I believe it refers to similar such items made in remembrance of the deceased- such as jewelry made of the deceased hair. In that regard it's an appropriate name for a shop dedicated to "goth" items!

kree kruh virgo gebba kalto kree is from the 1968 Disney Classic Black beard's Ghost. It is the spell that brings his ghost to life from his portrait. The portrait can be found on Pirates of the Caribbean, stored in pirate loot under a Jolly Roger flag.

Sorry, but the ship's mast in New Orleans Square was not part of the original New Orleans Square construction . It was added several years ago as a way to camouflage lighting equipment required for Fantasmic. Herb Ryman's illustrations provided the solution to the problem, but the ship mast wasnt visible in the park until 30 years after Pirates opened! Its much more than "nailing a mast to the roof of Pirates show building"

When Alice finds the Tea Party in the film AND boo it was after going toward The March Hare's house, which is where the Tea Party happens. In that scene, Alice says "How very curious," while approaching a thatched roof house that looks very much like the shop.

Another thing you're not exactly accurate with is the ticket system. VA through e-tickets were not phased out in the 70s actually existed into the early 80s. Now yes it is true that you could buy a one-time admission for the entire park in the 70. However you could still just purchase the whatever it was at the time $2.50 admission and purchase your separate ride tickets... this video makes it sound like that they came out with the all-encompassing ticket in the seventies and did away with the ride tickets. And this was not exactly true. They did as I said come out with the all-encompassing ticket. But once again the ride ticket lasted until the early 80s oh, I believe it was 1982 or 1983. I remember the when you got the all-encompassing ticket you would put it on a piece of string and tie it around your neck as a necklace. What I was about three I lost mine and that would have been proximately 1981. And I remember it was a big deal and my parents were pissed because at the time that probably cost like 10 or 15 bucks, and back then we were po. PO!
