HAHA, the only people that a wheel lock slows down is the owner or us techs. LOL
@Tem7828 жыл бұрын
That is funny when customer has stripped the lock nut or bolt completely. I just usually try to weld something to the bolt or nut..... It is not always so funny....

About waiting, I waited 4 hours for ntb up in Nashua to mount and balance new tires and wheels for me. They are 265 75 r 16 tires, which are plus size for my truck which caused me to go to them. 4 hours is crazy for that job. Was watching him after the first hour.

Dude I had a guy come down every day one time and spend time watching me work... got to be where I did EVERYTHING I could to fiddle faddle around on ANYTHING that had nothing to do with his vehicle, like ordering parts, filling out work orders ANYTHING to get that guy out of my hair!

I'm liking this Q/A. Here is one. Do mechanics prefer working on normal, supported cars like a Honda Civic/Ford F150 or do they enjoy odd/rare duck cars like Toyota MR2s, Saab 900 SPG, Mazda RX-7s even though finding spare parts may be harder or difficult to come by?

Next weeks question one!
@wtbm1239 жыл бұрын
I like the ones that , just already know more than you ,because the unknown person, has already looked at it and it just needs the part put on . Like it will not start because so an so looked at it and said it needed spark plugs ,muffler bearings or what ever.. .and that is all they can say is how good the other guy is that doesn't seem to be able to do the work or it would be there. Most are just trying to not get a diagnostic fee , but if you changed what the other guy said and it did not work , then it is all your fault .I tell them if i change their parts and it still does not start , then i will schedule a new appointment and they can Bring it Back then . Dealing with customers is the hardest part.

If you were an audio engineer the hard pan right on this video would be most peeve worthy.

Any more videos regarding the supervan?
@AmesiesCorner9 жыл бұрын
The van is getting dicked around by the insurance company. When they came out they couldn't do a proper inspection because it was so cold and now we're waiting for them to come back and look at and appraise all the fresh damage

What about clients who insist they can diagnose the problem? There's one shop I used to take my car to and if you mentioned the word "forum" they'd start shaking their heads. I go to a different one now and the head mechanic seems to be ok with my diagnoses. Maybe I've just been lucky. Or maybe he's just being polite?
@Smittz8 жыл бұрын
+modvs1 that's because we get paid to do the diag's. you coming in and saying "hey I read on a forum that this might be it" makes us feel like you already know what the problem is so if you want us to just work for free and do what you want, you should do it on your own. A lot of us are flat-rate, meaning we only get paid when working on a customers car. That hour of diag time means a lot to us.

I’m not a mechanic but wouldn’t it be annoying when a person comes in and it’s a no tool 3 second fix that anybody could figure out if they just looked for 10 seconds

on my speakers you have no right channel, that was very well done,and l deal with all of them, l like when an item gets dropped off and they say no hurry get to it when you can, then 2 days later there calling on it,and another is calling with a dead machine that you havent seen or diagnosed and there asking how much,,

Audio issue not withstanding, I think for the first time actually sitting down and talking to the camera with myself being the main focus and not the job at hand being the topic it's pretty darn good.

I have worked on vehicles "Abdoul the butcher" worked finding fastners missing,lamp cord wiring used to hold up the gas tank.I did an oil change once in a 1990s Ford Ranger and the gas tank was about to fall out,the straps rusted out.Get customers that don't want a safety issue fixed first.Had one in for another problem and had leaking brake lines.Customer did not want to have the brake lines replaced.Customers supplying the parts too,that cuts the profit of the repair done.

Yeah I spent too much on the crappy lapel mic that doesn't work very well.
@rickyklingbeil68048 жыл бұрын
number one for me is having me inspect it for free while doing an oil change. turning down the work and next time I see the car it has all the new parts I quoted last oil change
@kaje018 жыл бұрын
+ricky klingbeil That's why I try not to waste too much time on the inspection. I make sure fluid levels are good, if not I recommend pressure tests. I shake down the front wheels. Look at the tires. Check the battery. Cabin filter. Brakes if the wheels are coming off. Maybe I'll check lights if the car has over 100k. That's about it. Usually spend like 5 - 10 minutes looking for upsells and notifying safety issues for liability reasons.

WORST car I ever saw the guy was a former smoker who switched to sunflower seeds, and he ate those suckers driving down the road and spit some of them out the window, his total POS S-10 was covered in spit drips from the mirror to the door sill on the OUTSIDE and the passenger floorboard stacked a solid INCH deep in sunflower husks mixed with spit I'm sure! I wouldn't work on the sucker like that we made the guy at least clean out the floorboard where i was going to have to lay to work on hjs pile of crap!

Great presentation brother, At the shop there's always the customer with the down mower or chainsaw who says "Why can't you do it today, I'll pay cash ?? !!" No regard for the folks who are in the que and waiting for their equipment to be repaired. Keep up the good work, I'm watchin !

Take your dead bodies out please! Hahahaha. Great points. A lot of those things irritate me. Especially hovering customers and wheel locks

I was gonna say... the weed cars man. I can always smell as soon as I open the door, customer must have been smoking up literally on the way to the shop. If you know you're gonna get work done, maybe air it out a little bit before you get there or something. I've found many guns and contraband as well. Many weed bags in highschool students center consoles.
