@@ThatOpalGuyhe definitely terminated a few specific models for other unlawful causes.
@tejaswoman
@tejaswoman Жыл бұрын
In 1994, his inappropriate sexual involvement with one of his subordinates came to light when she sued for harassment. While she did eventually drop the suit due to the hefty legal expense of moving forward, that didn't undo the damage of the parts he _did_ acknowledge, nor the implications of her further allegations that he denied. Further, another model stated that while he supposedly fired her for gaining weight when she took a prescription medication - a bad enough look for him - in actuality he had fired her for not backing him up with regard to the allegations by the other model. He started out suing the second model for libel and slander, but after he dropped the suit, the court found him liable for her legal expenses. She also came out ahead in her countersuit against him for discrimination, wrongful termination and malicious prosecution; she should have gotten more in the settlement, but he wanted to hold her to a hush clause that would prevent her from speaking up about him in future. He may have been a good guy in other ways. It's also possible that when his wife died, his sexual morals may have declined or his desperation for other women may have increased. Either way, I consider him someone who was fun to watch on TV but probably hell for some women to be around behind the scenes.

50 years ago, when Bob Barker had Truth or Consequences, he always asked the contestant a question first. When the contestant couldn't answer the question after a few seconds, a buzzer went off, then they would have to pay the consequences. One time Bob asked the contestant, "What do you have when you pick up the phone, and hear people laughing, loud music playing, and dancing going on?" The man answered, "A party line." Bob shocked yelled, "THAT"S RIGHT! In all the years of doing Truth or Consequences, no one has EVER answered the question correctly." Bob went on to say, "But, that was the first part of a two part question." Everyone laughed. So he asked another question, and the buzzer went off immediately so the guy did not have the time to answer the second question. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. (For those who don't know, a party line was a land line telephone that was used by several households. If you picked up the phone and heard someone talking, you couldn't make your call until they were done. It was a very inexpensive way to have a phone that wasn't used too much 50 years ago.

Seeing this makes me see that Bob Barker had a sense of humor I was never aware of. This got me laughing and smiling. I've been hearing about Bob Barker for years and I did give his game show a gander and it looked fun. My mom at one time wanted to actually be on the game show and be like getting a new car but my mom did say that it was just a thought. I've talked to a lot of people about Bob Barker and The Price Is Right and nearly everyone I talked to are familiar with him. A lot of love and dedication to animals was probably the best-known thing about him. He lived to be 99 years old and was months away of becoming 100. He at least got to grow old as I heard he passed on from natural causes. I may not have been with him in his final days but after living for so long, a lot to look back on from his life, done a lot with his life. But even as he lived a life well lived. I know that during his life when he was living the best and now that he's up there with God. I know that his spirit and his soul is flying and his heart is open.

RIP Bob Barker! Now how did you manage to get that close to 100 without going over?😀

We will miss you Bob. NBC didn't have even a mention for Bob's death. Absolutely appalling.

What?! Are you serious?! And that was the very first network he appeared on, where he got his start hosting "Truth Or Consequences." How unfair that is for them to disregard him in that way. 😢

It’s fun to know I wasn’t the only one with fond memories of staying home sick and watching The Price is Right! I feel like it gave me a realistic sense of product pricing and the need to spay and neuter pets.

I remember the TPIR episode that Bob Barker voiced over at the beginning "I have decided to let my hair go gray". It was such a fitting way to ease the shock that all of us surely felt that day.
