Top Ten Worst Levels In Games

For me, these stages are either insultingly easy, annoyingly hard, boring/time wasting, or just were not fun in my eyes. I can only include levels from games I've played. The largest factor in my choices was just how much dread went through my mind at the thought of playing through any of these again.
NOTE: This was my first attempt at a major top 10 video and as you can tell, it's a bit amateurish in spots. I might redo this someday. Got to start somewhere.
Also only levels from GOOD GAMES. Not broken or terrible games like Sonic 06 or Superman 64.

In order to acquire the pass code (without just looking it up online) you have to buy it from an npc for 10,000 rupees. There is no other way to complete the level without already knowing the code other than earning cash on the wheel to get the code. I understand that you find the appeal of that level is exploring and figuring it out on your own but there are other games that do that in more engaging ways that don't require 15 minutes of holding down a single button.

I just hate that route in Sinnoh on Pokémon where it's foggy and your moves miss 99% of the time, whilst the opponents hit every time. Not really a level but still extremely nauseating.

Minish Cap's water temple wasn't that bad, nor was the one in Link's Awakening. Then again, MC's water temple was more of an ice temple, while Link's Awakening is one of the best games in the series.

I honestly would put Marble Zone below it if only because of how much it kills Sonic 1’s pacing after Green Hill. By the time I get to Spring Yard I’m often bored enough to stop playing it.

I don't know why I keep giving top 10 videos the benefit of the doubt. They are always so shallow. What makes "Ark of Yamato" feel like filler? What could be done to improve it? How does it contrast to other parts of the game? How does it compare to the mythical legend of Amaterasu? All of these are questions I would like to be researched, argued, and explored. Instead I get one word, then on to the next. Also: Wow, this is from 2012. I get old recommendations sometimes.

When I played Ocarina of Time, I thought the Water Temple was okay, but When I played Majora's Mask, I thought the Great Bay Temple was (as said in its name) great! I liked it because the current changing mechanic (too my opinion) was a pretty good idea for the dungeon and I liked climbing on and following the pipes to get to different areas. The factory theme also stood out well since Zelda games very rarely have a dungeon like that. I'll even go far enough to say it's my second favorite dungeon in the game. I don't hate the Water Temple, I certainly enjoy it, even if the boots were annoying to equip. It just didn't stand out to me as much as the Great Bay Temple did.

I loved both. The water temple is fun if you are careful and use Farore's Wind and the map. The Great Bay Temple is better, since the iron boots are replaced with a Zora, which despite the video's thoughts are amazing. As long as you know the inverted song of time and have some Chateau Romani, you should be fine.

The flood are awesome enemies; just because a level is hard or frustrating doesn't mean it's the 'worst'. And how can you call that bad level design and aesthetics?? The walls are organic and breathing and look sweet! And that Jak and Daxter 2 level was one of the hardest and most frustrating levels I've played in anything ever, but so rewarding when you get it done; certainly not a nominee for the worst levels list.

Dragonball z Raging Blast 1 features a level in story mode against Frieza where you both have full health, but as every time you deal some damage he gets fully healed its more like he has about 5 times your health. Which wouldn't be a problem except all his attacks take out about 1/5th your life. Oh, and he just spams them from a distance. Theres literally only one strategy you can take to win/survive. And any game that reduces combat to a single strategy, in my opinion, is a failed attempt. When you're -forced- to fight cheap with no oher means of victory, it really makes that event feel like a chore, instead of a fun exprience. It probably took me 2 hours to beat the frieza level jus because I was trying to find other eways to win but there aren'. Likewis, many games feel then need to put in challenging levels and yet hey have one weakness. And that exploit renders it poinless.

Nah ... people saying that The Water Temple in OoT is "bad" is just ... really old and lazy. Hard, big and intrincate ? Surely. But bad designed ? Definetely not. Actually, the way it is designed is purely genius. It really requires patience, of course, but also memorization, space/environment awareness, and creativity . Every time you change the water level you must remember the places you visited before and imagine how they possibly changed. Changing boots is very easy so I must assume that it is just that some players get tired easily. Personally, I had way more trouble clearing the Forest Temple, because it does have some criptic clues. The Water Temple was longer but easier to figure out the solutions since it has clear clues. Now ... Great Bay Temple is really something else.

There are 2 main problems: boot switching and memorization. 1. The gosh darn pause-side-A-unpause, then walk for 5 seconds and pause-side-A-unpause, then rinse and repeat 30 times. 2. Memorization is fun to a certain point, but in OoT water temple you have to memorize the places that will change for three different water levels and also memorize the way to each level changing location in a 3D maze. Sometimes you have to get to certain level to open the path to another level and then make your way back to the first place you wanted to go. In a 3D maze. With the cursed boot switching. Both of these problems were addressed in the 3DS remake, making the level very enjoyable.

Oh yes, the memories of that Super Paper Mario level are coming back. I had that game back in 2009-ish (only Paper Mario I've played), didn't get too far but I remember having to spend hours getting those coins, I left the room and walked around holding on the D-Pad. I can definitely understand where people are coming from in regards to Kingdom Hearts 2's Atlantica. I personally found the original far worse. The controls were awkward, combat wasn't much better, and BOTH PHASES of Ursula's boss fight were annoying, the seconds phase less so, but still annoying. Also, I didn't find the original songs added to the game, that bad, but I do agree that Swim This Way is just...ugh. Ursula's Revenge, however, was a fun one.

Actually, completing F-Zero GX story missions on the hardest difficulty unlocks custom craft parts from F-Zero AX, some of which are the best custom parts in the game used in most TA runs. The mission _Save Jody_ on Very Hard makes the "Speed" mission look like a cake-walk; you basically cannot make even a single mistake or you'll fail.

Croc was too much of a pushover, he was incredibly slow and all you need to do is use the quick batarang to get rid of him. He never felt like a real threat. The Mr.Freeze fight in Arkham City is closer to what Croc should have been.

I hated the Library in Halo CE until I figured it out. Then it was actually rather easy. And that completely changed my view of everything. I suddenly had a new outlook on the whole game. Can't believe you never finished it. I'd say that the finale is far more difficult and frustrating than the Library ever was, simply because you have to drive that damn Warthog so fast for so long. But honestly, when you beat it, it's super sweet. Worth it!

Effing. Water. Temple. Every time I play through OOT, I'm like, Hey, I've done this before! It's like riding a bike, yeah? Muscle memory! NOPE. The water temple from Twilight Princess takes a close second for inspiring "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!??" levels of rage. And if you're looking to update the list, might I suggest Five Nights at Freddy's custom night in 20/20/20/20 mode? Look away from the door on the right for a MILLISECOND without shutting it first and you're toast.

Halo's Covenants, Brutes, Flood, and Robots are all great enemies. None of these should have made this list, because honestly, the reason they are in there is to change up the style of play. Since Halo doesn't offer any "upgrades" to any of the characters, and without introducing a new class of enemies. all they could do is give you more and more enemies to fight, which would be super boring after a while. But, thankfully, since they are smart enough to create different sets of enemies, this spices things up. With all of the different classes, you just need to learn the fighting style of all of these classes and how to defend and attack them. The flood hunts you out and rushes you, the robots rush and chase you if they see you, while the covenant and brutes only attack you when you're in sight and hardly ever chase you. Oh yeah, and you get the extra benefit if you are fighting multiple classes at once if you can make them fight each other.

5 minutes? 10 minutes?!? That level took me like an hour! An hour of boring stupid block hitting, wheel running bullshit! There's a reason that's the least liked Paper Mario game!

I don't know why people hate the water temples in LoZ... Ocarinas water temple is a mind bendingly hard puzzle that felt like you won a nobel prize when you completed it, and the MM great bay temple was a blast too! Yea the level design wasn't anything to write home about but it's the late 90's for christs sake, what do you expect? There are games now a days that can't hold a candle to those two levels let alone the rest of both those LoZ's. I will however 100% agree with Arkham Asylum. It had some of the coolest hand to hand combat when it came to all the trash mobs, but then you get to the bosses and you're left feeling like an 18 y/o girl who just had her first sexual experience with her childhood best-friend Early Earl, frustratingly bored and extremely underwhelmed. I never played F-Zero GX but I did play good old F-Zero X for the n64... That god damn rainbow road... I will die in burning hellfire before I go back to that game! One more level... No wait game... No wait series, that needs to be added to this list is EVERY CALL OF DUTY SINCE MODERN WARFARE. Hey let's just remake the same god damn game and throw in a half-hearted campaign with a few new guns and killstreaks, people will lick that shit up off the floor and it makes me sick. The only good thing that came from the modern warfare series was Treyarch feeling like they had to one-up Infinity Ward and make the ever awesome Zombies game mode in MoW5, Blops and Blops 2. They should make a game purely based off of those god damn zombie levels! Too much fun with just a few buds, a few beers and an ounce of weed. Oh and all of the Frogger levels... Fuck you Frogger.

number seven PISSED ME THE HELL OFF!!!! I ended up just stealing a car and driving on the docks, or spin firing nonstop AFTER DYING 900 TIMES!!! What's worse is Protecting Green Sage as he's getting his Sage powers.

Number one is an easy answer and anyone who has experienced this knows what I'm talking about: Dead Island Ch.14-The Purest Evil on the Xbox 360. I tried this level 15 times (each time obtaining and saving ammunition, explosives, and any materials that would be helpful for this particular level) and only succeeded once. The kicker is that if you do not get it on the first try, you might as well start the game over. The problem/glitch is that you are stuck with a shaman/survivor and the goal is to keep yourself and him alive while you race through the catacombs. Sounds simple, but when a hoard of at least 10-20 zombies (each of different magnitude of difficulties to defeat) starts running out at the same time, things become difficult. What makes this more difficult is that the shaman starts to participate (even though it does nothing to help you) and the zombies can kill him in less than 10 hits. What makes this level impossible is the crappy autosave feature, which saves the progress right before this particular battle and each time after your death; with the problem being that it saves your weaponry at the exact moment of death (so all that ammunition that was saved up to get to this point disappears if either you or the shaman dies during the battle). Besides being impossible, the reason why I would call this the worst level comes in at the fact that more zombie can join in the battle at any point, that there are no levels in the game that come close to matching the extreme difficulty of this level (i.e. it's very random), and the fact that it was a pretty enjoyable game to that point, while few are able to see the game to the ending.

I don't know why, but the rest of my comments were removed, In short, I talked about how Cortana had bad or non-existent waypoint UI, how Mario Party did have bad minigame design that caused blisters and the control stick to burn out, and how the Water Temple shouldn't really get complained about any more than the average bad game element back then. I loved how hard those stages were. They were short and sweet so when you did get to a ridiculously hard stage, it wasn't that frustrating.

Maybe this is a little before your guys time but in the 90's the sega genesis made a game called prince of persia. You had to beat the entire game with no save points within under 2 hours or so because the bad guy had captured the princess, and, it's the only game in existance to have a realistic time limit. You know how in movies and games the hero can kill an infinie number of bad guys and the hostages never actually die? Well not in this game. No, you start off with no weapon, oh and guess what? You can die just by falling a few inches too far down, or by of course, getting chopped by any trap or by he numerous guards in every room holding swords. This entire game is nearly impossible and very slow movement at that so everytime you get so far just to die, then you get to turtle your way back to where you were assuming your rage doesn't cause you to die again. Prince of Persia Sega Genesis: The enire game is the worst level in the history of 2-d games. But, if you're hardcore, is pretty challenging.

The Library makes Cortana look like a walk in the park. You have to follow 343 who randomly starts whistling and often disappears leaving you no clue which way to go. Once in a while he'll abandon you while he opens a door, not even leaving you any sentinels to help deal with wave after wave of flood. Then there's the flood with rocket launchers... dear God... flood with rocket launchers... It's so annoying and ridiculously long.

Personally I found kh1 atlantica to be more difficult because the combat is so stiff and awkward. The world uses only aerial combat controls which means no combo plus, sonic blade, or most importantly dodge roll. That's why I dislike the fact that people bash it in kh2 as a bad world. It is a MAJOR improvement over kh1's terrible combat.
