Hi Max and Kim Welcome to Vietnam, That is really informative video. I have been Tam Coc 3 times and really to comeback because is very beautiful. From Tam Coc, it is convenienc to take a bus or limosine car to Cat Ba island. From the island you have chance to visit Lan Ha bay and Ha Long bay. We hope to see again in Vietnam.

Many temples, pagodas on top of mountains in VN are new/rebuilt. They make them like ancient but are very new, called new ancient temples to attract tourists.

Hi there! Thanks for the video. It’s ace! Please could you tell me how much you tipped the lady who rowed the boat at the end of your boat ride and how much was she asking for?

This was so informative guys! We have just arrived in Ninh Binh so this has helped us so much. We didn't know what boat tour to do. But the sights look insane. Ahhh man! About wanting more with the tips! I never know what's an acceptable tip. We had something similar in sapa and it kinda ruined the day :/ thanks for the heads up though. The steps looked brutal! But what a view! Awesome vlog 🧡

Creative Ginge thanks for the comment! We’re super glad you found it helpful, yea the tips are a little awkward but you can’t really avoid it and the view definitely makes it worth it! Hope you have an awesome time there!!

You’re clever travelers. Those vendors are so annoying lol. And that’s a good idea to park inside the Hang Mua area

How much is "ridiculously overpriced"? What's the amount in the tip you grudgingly gave to the rower finally?
@nathanrains9292 Жыл бұрын
80k for a soda, 60k for a small water...
@sjv9147s Жыл бұрын
@@nathanrains9292Yes, at least 3x overpriced. I won't press you for that tip amount of yours since ex-gratia.
@nathanrains9292 Жыл бұрын
@@sjv9147s I can't speak for them, but we offered our guide 80k and they demanded more. Tipping isn't customary in Vietnam and when people demand money it is no longer a tip or gratuity

@@nathanrains9292 Am trying to see both sides. The US$3.41 offer of tip for some 2.5 hours of rowing (?) was rejected. In the US, my personal experience was a min. tip of between 15~20% before your waiter/waitress lets you go. Now, that is the really tough kind of "on-demand tipping". Throughout your meal, of course, they come by your table ever so often to ask, "And how are we doing today?" - even smack right in the middle of your chomping/swallowing down something. So the culture of tipping in the USA is more of a social mandate than ex-gratia tipping in the altruistic connotation of the word. In Vietnam, even if you don't tip "right", they'll still let you go, albeit with a black face. Just saying ...

@@sjv9147s I believe the injustice is because you are viewing it with a US expense scale and not a scale based on the region you are visiting. In many parts of Asia I can get a coffee for $0.30, I don't demand the barista charge me $4 because that's what I would pay in the US, that would be absurd yes?? American scales go out the window when you leave America.
