As a driving instructor let's put a few things to bed. We nowadays teach to be in control of your steering wheel, how you do it is mostly up to you, but if you leave it up to a novice to decide they will end up in someones living room! This is why we teach the push and pull technique as a good method that works, but we don't discourage other techniques so long as they are safe and effective and they remain in control. This includes crossing their hands in certain situations.

Great video, I dont see the point in looking for the sake of it only do it when you need to know whats happening. Also the test is assessing how safe you are to drive on your own after all the examiner wont be there forever, you have to do things by yourself, its an ongoing learning process, I was told you learn how to drive after your test anyway. Although I read after passing their test 46% of people cannot remember anything from theory test which is worrying! 😮
@MCJimboy103 жыл бұрын
Same as school, you just learn the info to pass the exams. No normal person is going to remember what a contraflow bus and cycle lane looks like if they've never seen one in real life since their theory.. But you remember the things that you do all the time like not stopping in the yellow no stopping zones, a safe following distance of 2 seconds (doubled when raining) etc

Could I just suggest that if you only steer by keeping your hands in a fixed 'quarter-to-three' position you may get some kudos from your adolescent mates for looking like a racing driver as you steer, but you'd better also get some extra - fully rotational - elbow joints for when you run out of lock on the average road, because it ain't Silverstone out there people. I know that most drivers use variants of what is called 'rotational steering' in the police driver's handbook, 'Roadcraft' - crossing hands when you need more lock - but they also adhere to 'pull-push' for most everyday driving. A good driver should know and use both techniques judiciously.

A dashcam is a worth while investment for a new driver as when I installed mine last year it gave me the feeling like I was being watch so I became a better driver also the main factor is that it can help if you get into a collision. Someone pulled out on a driver infront and the other driver went into the curb and got a punture and the culprut drove off yet having it on dashcam helped . I stopped and changed the drivers tyre and for doing so I received £40 for my trouble which i greatly thankful for. If you see someone in trouble (if it wont cause you harm) help what could you lose.

Shuffling the wheel is so dumb, all it does is destabilise the car because you are changing the steering angle in fast jolts instead of doing it progressively. On top of that it takes longer to get to full lock which can cause you to understeer into the oncoming lane when you turn sharply. All so that you can have both hands on the wheel, dispite having to remove one to change gear anyway.

India? There’s nothing to stop doing after the test! 😂😂 The test involves driving forward on a figure of eight course and then driving backwards on an S-shaped course. 😂 Plus, the driving in India is absolutely chaotic, with no rules. (Well, none that are actually obeyed) In India, you just need to have a very good understanding of who is around you and where they are; if you have that ability, then you’ll be fine. (Before anyone jumps at me for being unkind or “racist” or whatever words you want to use, I am Indian, hence I am freely saying this without the fear of anyone getting angry with me) 😁 Loved the video! Some really nice tips there and ones which you don’t normally hear people saying often. 😊

My "Cheeky" discount was unfortunately over a grand more than what I'm paying for insurance now, and I'm in a car club as well for a further discount. Flux quoted me £2500 on my Rover 75, 18 year old driver, 1 year NCD and 8k miles, mum and dad on the policy, I luckily got insurance for £1250 with another company

My dude adrian flux definitely ain't cheap. 1.2L corsa was quoted for £4800 a year after I passed. (they did mention that cause I passed in 2 months therefore I'm not experienced). Got a quote from the Co-op for £1300 a year and they didn't care about "experience". Always look elsewhere first...

The driving test is a piece of piss if you can handle your nerves. You can either drive or you can't

Oh man... backseat drivers. I don't know how they can't understand how dangerous they can be especially when they cause new drivers to hesitate.
