Also add 'quick U turn' for the beginners. Instead of holding left/right to go back, you can press left/right + down , R2. Doing a switch while turning makes it faster. And lastly the 'quick turn', by double tapping down together with the shoulder button.

Moving all the specials to Up+Down has been something I've done since we were able to change them in THPS2, and it's honestly the best thing you can do for yourself. The same reason you explained missing a special grind and going into a manual, I also do for going from a "No Comply" or "Boneless" to a special from vert or ground. It basically allows me to spam the "up" button and once in the air, I can hit "down", followed by either circle or square to initiate my special. Another slight "pro tip" that I think is mentioned in this game, is that every time you do a trick, the value of that trick goes down (excluding free skate). So if a flip trick is worth 300pts, the next time you do it it'll be worth 150pt (can't remember the divider off the top of my head), and then 75pt, etc, until it's worth like 10pts. So when trying to hit a huge combo, don't keep doing the same grinds and flip tricks. Switch it up and try to use everything you can; kickflip, heelflip, pop shove-its, hard flips, impossibles, etc.

Using up-down inputs versus left or right inputs to ensure a manual when you miss the rail is one I haven't heard before. With about 300hrs into this so far (plus the originals in the early 00's), I'm glad I knew all of the other tips, but it's all solid advice for people wanting to really beat this game's ass-which is really hard to do. Solid advice 👍 ➤ Quick Note: A Boneless is a No Comply when in switch-just one of those skater things. Before I got older and out of shape I used to skate, haha! Using the Boneless or No Comply is also a great way to reach higher areas with a low level character like the rooftop gaps in "Downtown", which a lot of newer players struggle with (I know I did in the old PlayStation days).

This is sort of a combo of two of his tips: use transfer button/RT/R2 off of verts that are grindable on top. That way you can do a 900 or a crazy spinning grab trick then just start grinding. And you don’t have to worry about coming in straight on the landing because you can always grind. This is the best way to start a combo for me, pop off a 900 to kick things off then just start grinding
@grunions96484 жыл бұрын
Did you know that you can 'dismount' from a grind using the triggers? So if you're grinding vert coping you can drop straight into the vert (and follow up with a revert) without having to overbalance into it. You can also use this if (for example) you're grinding the edge of a tall building you're trying to get onto. Simply use the trigger to exit the grind on the rooftop side and roll away without having to ollie out.

Couple tips, one being an addition to your up down special grind. Have two special manuals as well, also utilizing up down. That way if you don't hit your special grind, you'll still hit a special manual. More points is always good. Then, with the R2, on PS4, on top of doing transferring it also puts you up on the coping of the ramp/bowl...so if you hit triangle, on PS4, to grind, you will go into a grind instead of just landing on top of the ramp or transferring to the other side and having to land your trick. It adds a nice initial boost of score for whatever longer combo you want to do. Finally, if you're still struggling to get the 10m point run for the achievement, go to Roswell. Go in the room with the pool. You'll notice there is a gap you can constantly get going over the open section as well as another gap multiplier. Do some tricks with the bowl using reverts and manuals and then use the R2 grind technique I stated above...once you figure out where the multipliers come in, you can go around, grab the multiplier, wallplant and do a trick back into grind and come back and get the extra 2 multipliers and wallplant back around. Pretty simple and easy 3m+ combo even without max stats. Do it 3 times making sure to utilize a plethora of different tricks and you'll get it no problem.

You should talk about the 180 spins on ground that makes you turn instantly, also about wallie plants that launches you up and maybe a reminder that if your special meter is full you go faster (and also if you're not on switch unless you fully upgrade it).

I wonder if the trigger would be more suited for spins (and move revert/nollie to bumpers).. since the bumpers are on/off inputs where the triggers would allow you to do gradual spins so you could fine tune your landing to never be sketchy

So you actually do something kinda similiar to what I do with your grind technique only I use the middle digit of my thumb and I tap the other buttons with the tip of my thumb. One of the other things to at least just increase the multiplier is that while grinding I'll just rock my thumb rapidly between either triangle and circle or triangle and square to rapidly build up my multiplier. The thing about the L and R though I didn't realize and can probably slip that in as I just never thought "OH you can spin and land in another grind ." Thats a good tip. The "option select" is pretty nice too though the magnetism of tony hawk has always been pretty good to sticking to surfaces and grinding.

Love this. I have just picked this game up and struggling to get past 50k points on the warehouse. I always start off at the top doing a few manuals, then I go down the hill, jump on the grind, into a manual, then on a grind along the top, and then end this with about 8k points. I will be adding the R1 on the grind and also the boneless to the 1st grind, hopefully, it helps add to the points. I have been grinding along the three half pipes and jumped off the wall but did not get anywhere near the numbers you were getting. When you jumped between each halfpipe, was this just a normal jump, or did you do a boneless? Also, is it worth double-clicking the other buttons when grinding to add to the points on this part, or is this just going to make the balance hard for me to do? I have been using the left stick to do all of my controls, but I may use the d-pad after seeing you do it, as this may make it easier to balance the grinds. Thanks again!

Hey Gleez I got two questions bro! First one is, how do you guys keep you momentum from manual to a ramp? I've been doing manuals to extend combos and stuff but I always end up with no forward momentum.. Second question is, I'm trying to complete the Hardly Fair challenge to unlock a crazy shape at the shop and the challenge asks me to complete 7 speed runs on "Hard time" but I have no idea what this hard time is. Nothing in the game (from what I've looked) tells me what's that about. I did a few runs on warehouse and I can't tell if I'm close or not to the time limit they set as "hard". Thanks man!
@Gamingwithgleez4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting! Momentum does tend to slow down when using the manuals. I tend to look for a place to grind quickly. Using your super grinds also boost your speed. I like to use those accordingly. As far as the second question goes, I haven't completed many challenges. I have just been doing online. If I run across what you are referring to I will let you know.

To find the "Hard" times for speedrun mode, check in the speedrun category of challenges. There are individual challenges each for "Par" and "Hard" modes you can earn for every level and by clicking on the challenge you can see the time you're shooting for. For instance, Hangar is 1 m 15 s.

Hang triangle with your pointer finger is exactly how I played it because that's how it was played at the time I'm glad they didn't change the mapping because that's really how I played it the whole time and am again

Awesome tutorial, thank you. Any chance you could do a video of how you get a lot of points on the Phoenix Downhill jam course? Would be super appreciated as it's driving me nuts trying to get the sick score.

Do you have to constantly keep the jump Button, X in this case pressed while manualing, to maintain speed, or is there another way to keep your speed? Because it is kinda Hard for me to do all this Stuff like revert, up and down for Manual, then hold X and keep the Manual Balance at almost the same time😨
