Hold shift plus misc. Select 2nd sequence. You can now run two sequences of any length simultaneously. 16 bars of music on one sequence Plus two bars of drums on another sequence running simultaneously looping over and over. Absolute game changer, I never hear anybody talk about it🤷

When renaming files/sequences you can use the '16 LEVELS' key to delete the characters instead of clearing with the jog wheel.

Great video and tips! I use number punching and the scroll to trim samples.....I’ve never had a MPC with a working slider on the left, so seeing that was a game changer!!
@spvidz3 жыл бұрын
nice man yeah that was something I nearly mentioned actually. The slider is super handy though yeah, saves a ton of time or annoying the hell out of myself with those wheel clicks haha!
@sharkfortytwo3 жыл бұрын
ooh i did not know about the shift +slider trick thank you! Also in regards to the editing pitch on the number pad trick: i try to move my samples up or down in increments of +12 or -12 (basically jumping octaves) to keep them in tune with the original. unless i’m trying to match the key of another sample

Great tutorial and tips. The first two are very handy for me. I don't save my project on my 2000XL, I track out to my DAW and mix live using the mute/solo function. Your last tip is what I do with mine all the time. I sample each part manually by ear. It's much faster than doing a long sample and then chopping, for me anyhow. I would love to see tips on how to record sequences on the 2000XL. It's not something that I do as it seems long and I can mix live to the DAW much faster, but I am interested in it if there is a way to do it fast. I hope you can do a video on it in the future

Thanks for watching man. I will look into doing some content around sequences in the future for sure!

@@spvidz Since making the above comment I took it on myself to learn to sequence on my 2KXL and how to do it fast. I still use the mutes but in the sequence so I can do a lot more complex mixes. The journey continues

man, the 2kxl looks so good. super limited but really really pretty

Its fun but also can be a bit frustrating to use! I find it really tough to get a good mix as you don't have any FX. Its an amazing sequencer though and the pitching is cool as well

Im so lazy with naming tracks and sequences. I always say ah il do it later. An hour later ive got like 10 sequences and 14 tracks going and im then too lazy to do it so i never do it

Know the feeling man yeah 😆 gets frustrating when you want to delete something and can’t remember which track it is!
@jonathansoko10853 жыл бұрын
@@spvidz then i delete what i thought was a hi hat but it was really the sample i played out and forgot how i did it, hit undo but it undoes something else then im like fuck then reboot the machine. Ive been using hardware since the 90s with the eps and i still do this like all the time
@MS-12 жыл бұрын
Do what I do. Use the 2KXL in conjuction with the MPC software as just a midi controller. Load your samples into the pads via drag and drop in the software vst. Then just use the 2KXL`s sequencer. (After making sequences just save the .midi files on the 2KXL onto CF or SD cards for recall sake or midi file uploading into a DAW). By doing this hybrid workflow method, you are not too far removed from the standalone hardware or too far into the MPC software taking away from standalone. (The software is just used to store the samples on tracks but, the 2KXL`s sequencer is doing the heavy lifting).

Hi, so I’m relatively new to the MPC 2000 XL, but I’ve picked it up pretty well already. I absolutely love this thing, the only problem is that I don’t know how to change the trigger mode of the pads. I know that there must be some way to do that but I haven’t found anything neither in the manual, nor on KZbin. It would be really nice if someone could help me. What I basically want is that whenever I press the same pad over and over again that the sound gets triggered again every single time and that the previous one gets ‘killed off’. If that makes any sense lmao
@spvidz3 жыл бұрын
Click Shift > Program. Choose the correct 'drum' for where your sample lives. (you have to assign the samples to a drum if you've not already done that). Once in there hit the pad you want to edit and using the F buttons again select PARAMS (F2). Use the arrows to move to 'overlap' at the bottom right of the screen and choose 'MONO'. The problem with using this mode is that when you press a DIFFERNT pad it will overlap. I would stick to having 'NOTE ON' selected and the have the same sample on two pads. then you can just flick between them to create the effect you want, then when you go to a different pad it won't overlap. Hope that helps you
