It’s an exciting ride. As veterans, as you know, we are used to being in odd and impossible situations. Homesteading will push your limits, but I also think this is where we grow and learn the most about ourselves. Welcome to TN and thank you for joining.

Jess sent me over. I'm so glad to have found your channel. My husband, who is also a Navy vet, and I are closing on 12 acres next week. We are in Central Kentucky. Thanks for the tips. We definitely need everything to be as automated as possible because we both have full-time jobs. Thank you for your service.

Jess sent me! Great tips, thank you so much. I'm in the "classroom" right now...growing a small garden in my backyard, learned how to can and am now researching animals and their care. I love the "organization" tip....you can't manage what you don't measure! Be blessed....

@@BlueBellyAcres we have been asking ourselves if empty nesters in our fifties should be doing this again in a different state? We sold our paid for everything with all the coops, gardens, tractor, orchards and all to relocate to the other end of the country to develop a raw 20 acres. Yup, we’ve lost our minds! lol

@lifewithmikeandjenn5814 Welcome to the insanity. We are also in our 50s, empty nesters, and doing something completely new. We are enjoying learning and even learning through our mistakes. It’s scary, exciting, draining, and fills us with joy…all t the same time. Thanks for joining us!

Great tips! I can relate to all. We are also in East TN in Morgan County and freezing water with the pigs is a huge problem this year. Looking for different options for next year. I like the black barrel retaining more heat. LOVE your home upgrades so beautiful!
@BlueBellyAcres

Thanks for swinging by. The black barrels don’t keep for the deep, long freezes but definitely gives a good start. Stay warm friend.

I enjoyed your video. Jess sent me as well. My husband’s retired military and planning on retiring from his current job and I’m hoping to homestead then. Great advice. Hopefully we’ll do as you recommend. I’m horrible at documenting. 🤷🏼‍♀️

We just try to change one or two things at a time. It will take a little bit to get your routine dialed in but it is more difficult than chaos. And if the documenting is a challenge, do photo documenting…you can then go back and look at the pictures if you need to see where things were. Thanks for joining and good luck.
