But, to scale it up to replace current plastics would take enormous land use, which would mean further deforestation to make room. the tech is not sufficient to produce the jump to hemp plastic, either. There are 48,980 miles of expressways in the United States which could be lined with Hemp and the meridian could also be planted in hemp to prevent crossover head on collisions. Your observation is flawed from the start because hemp had been made completely illegal and the goal for 1944 was 300,000 acres. Just one fifth of UNUSED farmland planted in hemp could end fuel imports. You must never get out of the city because in between cities there are nothing but miles and miles of open lands not being used for any purpose. Besides that you cannot call using land for growing hemp deforestation because it grows 14 ft tall in 3 months and requires no pesticide or fertilized. A hempfield for plastic production would be much thicker than a forest and would remove much more carbon from the air than the natural forest does itself. You must be getting your information from a Big industry controlled source. Because it was Big industry especially DuPont, Hearst newspapers and the Melon Bank that had Hemp removed from competition to begin with. I highly recommend you see Hemp for Victory the only pro hemp film ever produced by the US government. Which they denied ever producing. PS you did say it was not possible because you said it was not feasible. Just saying.
