I am from Delhi and even in my social studies textbooks during the nationalist Vajpayee government, the separatist groups of Jammu & Kashmir and North-East were consciously mentioned as "insurgents" and not "terrorists" to not create a certain unfavourable perception in the minds of children against their own fellow compatriots who had unfortunately taken up arms. And this is despite the fact that the Indian government had long declared organizations like ULFA as terrorist organizations. Therefore, for Arnab to continuously label this man as a 'terrorist' and his organization as a 'terrorist organization' right in his face is like telling him that now that you have decided to return to the mainstream, we will make sure we don't let you bury your past by constantly reminding you of your past. Moreover, this interrogation masquerading as interview told us nothing about the terms of the peace deal. We are not interested in where this man had been hiding during his militant days. We all know that our enemies overtly and covertly aid our insurgents- no surprise there, this is totally expected. But we are more interested in knowing what all terms and conditions were agreed on in this peace deal and what these ULFA leaders and cadre are going to do now. Should I have expected any meaningful interview from the spy-cum-inspector-cum-advocate-cum-justice Arnab Goswami? I feel sorry for myself!
