Top Up Nissan X-Trail T31’s Engine Coolant Reservoir

we have a nissan xtrail t31 and we use water to top up the water tank, are we doing it wrong and what should we do if now we need to use coolant

It’s better to flush em all out first and refill it with coolant as water could evaporate easily and the engine will easily overheat then harm other parts
