As Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers was written to have flaws and failures (like the best superheroes are) and have to work harder to overcome them. And while most superheroes have traditionally had various levels of leftward leaning (with characters like Guy Gardener, Rorschach etc. being in the minority), Danvers as Ms. Marvel wasn't as affiliated with the same degree of political ideology that she was as Captain Marvel who's kind of a Mary Sue that the audience needs to be instructed to like. Frankly, an actual Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel movie inspired by the writing for her old superheroine persona would almost certainly have done better in the MCU... I did go see Captain Marvel though... The first Wonder Woman movie was far superior. Captain Marvel was... okay I guess... but to me it was the weakest MCU movie I've seen.

I took it as how sudden the attack was. It webbed up her mouth and throat. Even though it wouldn't harm her, no one could take suddenly having foreign matter in those areas. Her look of shocked panic were well done

Somehow I don't think of what Rogue did to her as humbling so much as just villainous. After all, 'Ms. Danvers' had worked hard to overcome trials and hardships and didn't have the self-righteous ego that 'Captain Danvers' does. The Captain is kind of a Mary Sue much of the time so what Hulk did to her comes off more like 'knocking her off of her high horse' and actually bringing her to a place of humility where as Rogue just brought her to a place of being stolen from.

You’re right Cyclops wouldn’t be injured by his own optic blasts so I believe he’s referring to the additional energy Captain Marvel re-channels and the damage caused to where he’s standing along with the surrounding area that would do him in.

I’m going to write a comic book, where a overly large character who is monochromatic, and legally loosely based on the hulk, gets his butt kicked by my main character, whose sole power is to always do everything better than my imitation hulk. Cuz the hulk is the worst.
