For travel, I use the Canon Powershot G9 Mark II. The camera easily fits in a small bag, lasts well (days) on a battery charge and takes very crisp photos. 📷 I've used it too in the rain for a short while, just not in a massive downpour. I've had it a few years, as I recall cost was near to ~$400-500.

In general, small, decent sensor (size) and optical zoom... otherwise just use your smart phone. For watersports, used the Fuji XP series...not the best in class, but didn't freak when it got scratched and dropped. Good fast glass for indoor and nightime shots. Zoom, because with tourists around, you can't get close enough with a fixed lens camera. Sony HX series worked for me, especially with the pop-up and out EVF for those really bright days.

this is just an ad video to sell cameras. just talks about specs that you can easily google. not much value in that. the #1 camera is the canon g7xiii. however, if you google around, that camera has bad reviews for it's poor focusing. in fact, the g7xii, the previous generation has better focusing. ah well. it is an ad video after all.

These are the cameras I’m currently using, Leica CL, with following lenses, a Leica Vario-TL 18-56 f/3.5-5.6, Leica M-Mount adaptor with 3 M-Mount lenses from Zeiss, the Distagon T*35mm f/1.4, the C Sonnar T* 50mm f/1.5 and the Biogon T* 25mm f/2.8. Fujitsu X-Pro 3 with the following Lenses, Fujitsu lenses; XF23mm f1.4, XF 16-55mm f/2.8, MKX50 50-135mm t2.9 and a Sigma 150mm-600mm f5-6.3. I also have a M-Mount, so I can use my Zeiss M-Mount lenses, as well as my older but still very useable Leica M-Mount lenses as well as the one of a kind Zeiss lenses that came from my also just as rare Contax G2 kit, the one with the aluminum case. My point and shoot cameras, in which one is always with me are the; Leica D-Lux 7, Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 VII and Fujifilm X100V. It’s hard to choose a favorite between these three as all of them are so different. Though I seem to use the Leica D-Lux 7 a little more as I really like it’s color production. Though for video work, the Sony all the way. The Fujitsu is what I choose when I want to get candid shots of people as it just seems to be better suited for the job, it also takes absolutely gorgeous shots. Finally, a Hasselblad 907x 50C, with a Hasselblad XCD 35-75mm f/3.5-7 and a few older Hasselblad lenses from my still very used Hasselblad 500C/M as the 50C digital back works with both bodies flawlessly, they even match each other’s design scheme. Though mostly I just use the the 60mm f3.5 Distagon from it as it’s still one of my all time favorite lenses to shoot subjects and even street photography with. I used to use a Leica M digital, but it was stolen while on vacation. Desperate for a new a camera at the time I purchased the Fujitsu X-Pro 3 with a Leica M-Mount, thinking I would just sell it when I got back home and just buy another Leica M as it was insured. Well, it turned out that I loved the X-Pro 3 so much I decided to keep it and just replace the Leica M with the CL and Leica’s Vario-TL 18-56 f/3.5-5.6 lens which is a great all rounder street lens. Future camera will be a ALPA 12 FPS with Canon, Hasselblad and Nikon lens mounts as I have a very large collection of lenses without bodies to use them with. It also fits the Hasselblads 50C digital back so there won’t be any need to buy other, though I will most likely buy a used Leaf at one point. Also the new Alpha 1 by Sony, though I’ll need to sell off a few cameras and lenses from my collection that I don’t use anymore, to afford that one. Mostly cameras from Rollei, as they seem to be selling like hot cakes right now. Especially the 2.8 series and especially a Royal series. Though like Rolleiflex 2.8GX Royal, I also have few older Leica M kits and some other really incredible pieces that I will never sell as they were given to me by my grandfather. So hopefully I can do the same with one or more grandchildren who show interest and promise in photography as I once proved to my grandfather. I no longer use film cameras however as I simply do not have the space for a darkroom and the equipment necessary for film or print development. Although, with the introduction of these new small, self contained, film development systems like the one found here -> www.osirisfilm.com/ the Osiris F1just might intrigue me enough to get back into it. I definitely will not be developing my one prints as that still requires a dedicated darkroom, but scanning the negative into a digital format seems very enticing, what do you guys think, any experience with these machines?

A) a good lens array and other elements of a good camera needs space - especially if you want a decent adjustable aperture, mechanical shutter, ND filters, viewfinders etc. B) These are targeted much more towards people who care/want portable but proper photography and/or videography capable cameras rather than rely on auto processing and AI. IMHO all the sharpening and postprocessing tricks can't really add in detail that a tiny smartphone camera is incapable of properly capturing in the first place. C) The products you are talking about did exist and dominated the compact camera market before smartphone cameras "got good". Smartphones have killed the "dumb" point and shoot - leaving only the more capable, more professional compact cameras. If enough people still wanted dedicated "dumb" point and shoot cameras, they would have survived.

The ones covered are also good for photography. A different video recommends the Canon M60 over the G7 X Mark III, for photography. It's a trade-off, though - larger sensor, better auto focus, but also a larger camera. It seem to me that it depends of your priorities. For some people, size and weight take priority; and these people are willing to sacrifice to some degree when it comes to image quality and other aspects. The other side of that, though, is that the image quality with the G7 X Mark III is absolutely fine for some people and purposes, and even indistinguishable from the image quality of the larger sensors and cameras.

What a stupids girls in 0:07 it's not funny. Canon G cameras... never again, those cameras have many problems with cable flex in screen and in the lens opening system. Leica, just for the fan of expensive things. Sony RX, they couldn't make a camera harder to hold. Inexplicably, none of the Sony Alphas appear on this list.

If you are going to have someone narrate your top ten videos, at least make sure that they can at least properly pronounce the names of the products you are discussing! In the top ten compact cameras video, above, your “announcer” made the following errors: It’s not Lake-ah, it’s Lie-ka and it’s not Zeese, it’s Z-ah-ese! Since I started watching a lot of You-Tube, I’ve never seen so many well known names of people and things mispronounced! Some well known names of people and things are tortured so badly, that it’s almost impossible to figure out who or what they are talking about! I realize that the state of education in the Western Hemisphere has declined greatly in the last 50 years or so, but there is simply no excuse for these gaffs not being caught before the video gets posted.
