The only amber alert I’ve ever gotten was an alert for two missing girls who apparently went missing when the parents weren’t home. 5 minutes later it was followed by a message saying it was a false alarm and they just went to play with the next door neighbors kids. I've always had a fear of the unsettling eas noises when I first heard them. To this day bring 16 years old, I am still somewhat scared of them. But I watch videos on the noises to get more use to them so that I'm aware of the sound.

The noises still send chills down my spine, even when I know they're coming. When younger, they'd sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night when I didn't turn off the TV before falling asleep. But hey, the EAS accomplished their goal. It definitely gets your attention.

I remember a few years ago, my friends had stayed over and we were up late so we were extremely tired in the morning, we got an amber alert saying that something happened to the nuclear power plant not too far from us and we probably needed to evacuate, but we were so tired that we ignored it and went back to sleep. One time, we had extreme storms all day. At about 7:00, I was watching TV in my room and my iPhone played that emergency alert sound for a tornado warning. One time, we had a really bad wind storm in my area. My family was out of the house but I was home working on homework. My dad has a weather radio that started blaring the warning alarm for a tornado. In instances like that, I always prepare for the worse. In retrospect it makes sense why the EAS is creepy, the EAS (emergency alert system (the tool used to broadcast the alerts)) is designed to get alerts out as quick as possible , even if it comes at a creepy cost. And the harsh tones at the beginning/end are encoded with alert info and info on where the message should go, so you best believe they aren't going to change it any time soon.

The only time I have expected a EAS alert when something was legitimately wrong was in 2017. It was during Hurricane Harvey . I was with my mom going to my grandparents house for some reason. We were listening to the radio when it came on and warned of the Hurricane's floods and high winds . I was pretty shook afterward.
