May be that has to do with the fact that mothers dedicate more time to their children than fathers. Many women leave their jobs or take leave to take care of kids when young.people feel close to those with who they spend most time and feel understood. Their is probabaly strong emotional connection between mother and child than between father and child. Though in some cases it might be opposite. I am more close to my father than mother. But in some situation i have to choose between the two it will be my mother. The reason is simple my mother lose her sense of indiviuality to take care of family. Her sacrifice ia much bigger than my father's. May be many people feel like that.thats why we hear of motherly love and not fatherly .
