"Part I"? No, this is not a Nollywood project but yes, this is "Part I" nonetheless. I've been blessed to work with great clients and Tope and Feso are no exception. Their engagement and wedding ceremonies offered several memorable moments so I knew I could get away with a 2-part trailer this time. Usually Nigerian engagement ceremonies are predictable: put animated chairwomen/men, narrators, "alagas," (or whatever else they want to be called) in the room and the result will probably be the same every time. That means most times, I'm fine just showing snippets of an engagement ceremony buried in a primarily wedding ceremony trailer. But the dominance of the Alaga Ijoko, her unique sense of humor, her innovative use of the English and Yoruba languages, her management of time, Feso falling into her trap, and Tope taking at least 10 minutes to dance down the aisle while the live band played are some of the reasons this engagement ceremony was different for me. So "Part I" is dedicated to the other beautiful, colorful, and culture-rich engagement ceremonies that are not usually seen in wedding trailers. Part II on the other hand . . . well, since "Idumota" won't have it, I guess you'll just have to stay tuned . . .
