It's a trans-shipment port. Goods from anywhere are parked in Singapore and re-exported to elsewhere. Not every container in a ship is headed to the same location. So some containers are transfered to Singapore to be redistributed. Say a ship carrying goods which its final destination is Indonesia, China and Russia. But the ship is heading to China only. Goods are collated in Singapore. All containers from around the world meant for Russia are consolidated and transferred onto another ship heading to Russia. The same with Singapore Changi Airport. It's a hub-and-spoke destination. 60 million passengers but only 18 million tourists a year.

Sorry to say but your list is total crap. The real figures in TEUs are (there are noi reliable figures for total cargo tonnage as many Chinese and American ports do not publish those. Shanghai, China Singapore, Singapore Shenzhen, China Ningbo-Zhoushan, China Guangzhou, China Busan, South Korea Qingdao, China Tianjin, China Hong Kong, China Rotterdam, Netherlands
