My partner and I were the 5th and 6th persons to complete the entire Trans Canada Trail / Great Trail! It took us 556 days to entire across Canada! Thank you for including it!!! We are the only ones to blog the entire route and photograph the entire trail! Our Hike4Birds was a terrific experience!

Such breathtaking trails! I once did a 36 km hike through the forests spanning 3 provinces in Vietnam. It was an incredible and unforgettable journey!

when I read the title, I thought 'oh, the Van Fleet trail is probably on this list'. The Van Fleet trail is only 29 miles. I'm gonna go sit down now 🤪

The End to End Trail in the UK is 1215 miles. not mentioned. Also, the official national scenic trail North Country Trail is ignored. This trail is 4800 miles!

No mention of Australia's Bicentennial National Trail? At 5,330km, 3,311 miles, I thought it should get a nod.

The European trail E4 is even longer than the E1, some 10.000 km. My longest hike was crossing Germany from North to south, Puttgarden by the Baltic sea to the Austrian border, 1100 km in 44 days. My current project is the German part of the E1, doing it about a week at a time. Being retired, I stay away from the very steep alpine trails, though I do enjoy a week in the Alps!

What about the American Discovery Trail and the Australian Bicentennial Trail both more than 3000 miles?

I hiked the pct at age 62, less what was missed due to fires, and the Te Araoroa in NZ when it was really new. At the time it involved daily trail finding but I'm sure by now its pretty clear plus gps apps like far out will cover it. The pacific nw trail is rugged with endless blow downs, too. I'm currently in Patagonia doing day hikes and such. Another newer trail is the hexa trek trail thru high mountains of France. 3034km. There's even a long trail passing thru what looks like gorgeous country in Armenia.

There is also a Rio Grande trail that starts in northern New Mexico and passes thru urban and primitive areas. Close pass by White Sands among many unique geographic features as well as flora and fauna.

The continental divide trail links to the great divide trail that continues along the continental divide at the British Columbia/Alberta border. I met a guy doing it once when I was hiking what, I learned, was part of it. This trail is not for the faint of heart for parts of it you just get a topographical map and figure out where to go. The guy I met said he would use binoculars to figure out how the goats got over some passes and followed their route.

Far-out app gps will navigate the cdt now.... that should be really helpful.

Yeah, pass on the Northern most Island of Japan. They have huge, meaning really big, brown bears...cousins of the American Grizzly bears. Now, being from the US we have both black and brown bears. We also have wolves, coyotes, mountain lions, jaguars, Bob cats, venomous spider and snakes... along with large alligators, some smaller salt water crocodiles which live at the very tip of Florida....and now, thanks to idiots who bought large constrictor snakes then decided they no longer wanted them so released them into the swamps of Florida we have those as well. However, gun ownership is legal in the US and in most US states you can carry a firearm to protect yourself from dangerous predatory attacks from wild animals and any would be human monsters.
