Aston Martin Valkyrie vs The Real World

The Valkyrie is Aston Martin’s F1 car for the road. Or is it?
It was conceived when Aston was purely a Formula 1 sponsor, and designed with a little help from Red Bull and its soon-to-depart design genius Adrian Newey (who’s actually joining Aston’s own F1 team. Small world!). And while the Valkyrie has numberplates and headlights and a windscreen wiper, it’s about as single-minded a hypercar as there has ever been.
Can you really use it on the road? Or is that marketing fluff?

engineering marvel would be it is usuable on public roads and "relatively" comfortable for everyday driving while still being an absolute performance monster. Cough, p1, laferrari, 918, basically all the koenigseggs' and so on. This car, has the perfomance and nothing more. What a boring car.

He built 2 road cars. One was a liter bike powered go kart, and the other was created under the same circumstances as the AMR. They are both incredible designers, who have followed an eerily similar career path, who have different answers to the “ultimate road car” question. Im sot sure why anyone is arguing here. 3 cars. Complaining about the noise... this isn't really a road car - it's just road legal. What you're hearing is the rawness of a race car. It is what it is and you're not buying this thing for comfort. Most of these will see almost no miles and sit in rich people's museum garages like all other hyper cars.

So , getting in is a faff , a faff to start , loud as f , cosy as f interior , no looker , ear defenders every drive , v12 sounds harsh inside.....Not for me , I'll have a SSC Tuatara striker in green for my Hypercar garage queen.

It's not possible to truly express, what one feels inside this car. I've had the luxury to have a passenger drive, won't say with who, but the acceleration it had to 310km/h is unreal, you feel, like you can do it even in a parking lot. The vibrations frequency, the grip and braking power, the emotions, the raw overload of nearly all senses. There's nothing currently on the road, which can create these feelings. Give the Valkyrie another year, since it's just now starting to be ready for reviews. It's going to be a car, that's going to surpass the legacy of the F1.

I think that this car is exactly what Gordon Murray did not want the t50 to be and I think he is right. It's just too intense and I'm sure the novelty will wear off after a few drives. Still i wish i was fortunate enough to have one LOL

Well I wouldn't normally have said anything but you brought up the production of the video 🤷 All I'm saying is they seem to have made the mistake of matching the dB of the voiceover to the dB of the presenter talking while driving. The disparity is particularly noticeable when it cuts from voiceover to him talking without the engine on.

Why even bother touting that it's street legal at all? It clearly doesn't have an ounce of practicality for it, so all you're doing is potentially jeopardizing it's maximum track potential...which is where these things will spend 2% of their life, with the remaining 98% in a garage.

1270 KG dry... ? I'm VERY surprised by that... considering the GMA T50 weighs only 997 KG dry (T50s is under 900 KG !) and the 'heavier' T33 weighs only 1090 KG dry... !! Where is all of that extra weight on the Valkyrie ?!? I'd happily choose one of Gordon's manual-gearbox creations (even the paddle-shift T50s) before this annoyingly-noisy car, any day...

I love the existence of the Valkyrie, the AMG One and the GMA T50, but to be honest those three hypercars are too loud to their own good. While they close the gap between true racing hyper cars and the road legal hypercars, I think that models as the Chiron, Tourbillon, Jesko and Gemera are more enjoyable since they can offer terrific performance whithout leaving you deaf after one hour of driving...

Top gear needs to invest in some good presenters again. I know that no one will ever match up to the original trio. But please there are good presenters out there and you even had one in Chris Harris but let him go. Top gear will never be any good without good presenters who have emotion, humour, great analogies, funny comparisons, and all the other things that made top gear great. This whole video might as well have been a script read by AI and some drone footage of a valkyrie. The production quality is no where compared to other KZbin channels.

As a Canadian who lives in a place where 7C is very common place I can tell you for a fact a cup 2 is a terrible tire for those conditions you’re probably better off with a AS4

On the one hand it's a stunning machine. On the other hand I always think of the RB17 when I see the Valkyrie. But what bugs me most: There are so many super-hyper-mega-awesome-cars from every manufacturer you can think of that even a Valkyrie can't develop the fascination a McLaren F1, a Ferrari Enzo or even the holy trinity (LaFerrari, 918 Spyder, P1) had at their time. Even the highest segment of luxury sport cars is completely saturated nowadays. Somehow that's a shame as it takes away the excitement this cars deserve. At least for me.

Just listening to him struggle over the internal sound was really rough, I can't imagine anyone being able to withstand that without permanent hearing damage after a few test drives. I appreciate they left the noise in to give a real impression of the pain, but for thr viewers, I think 1-2 minutes would have been enough (then insert the disclaimer it's been removed to make it easy for the audience to understand what he's saying), then using some noise suppression/voice optimization for a yt video is a no-brainer... The car is an amazing piece of engineering and I'm sure sounds amazing whilst watching (from a distance and in very short bursts).

It only has 3 flaws - it's price (1) and availability (2) mean only well-connected billionaires need apply. And roughly zero of those billionaires will buy one to be anything but another bragging point to their slightly lesser connected billionaires. Especially with the assault to your ears (3) when inside - and I have to say the lame and just plain lazy solution to that. Those can headphones are not staying on if you're driving that car anything like it should be driven. How few people will ever see one?

As monumental an achievement the Valkyrie is, Gordon Murray had a more holistic approach to creating the ultimate road going vehicle, even speccing a cutting edge lightweight sound system for the F1

The sound that motor makes is beautiful... and terrible. Probably would have been worthwhile to show what is like raw, and unedited for reference, but then after that do a nice voice over with the background noise significantly reduced. Trying to understand what the presenter is saying is challenging and diminishes the presentation.
