For those of you unfamiliar with the Mont Blanc Fire, it occurred on March 24, 1999 (just 9 years before the air date of this episode). The cause was a Belgian transport truck carrying flour and margarine catching fire, though what exactly sparked it remains disputed to this day, with theories ranging from careless cigarette disposal to mechanical or electric faults. 39 people died and 14 were injured.
