Policy in most departments say you must READ the warnings, not recite them even though everyone who ever watched TV knows them by heart. Thing is, in every case NEVER talk to cops without your attorney! I was a cop for 25 years and never saw a case that was better for the criminal because they talked to investigators. It is the first warning, you have a RIGHT to remain silent, do that when ever you hear the Miranda warnings because the next thing out of your mouth may well put you behind bars.

I have two friends who are police officers and they have been on the force for 15 and close to 20 years respectively. They tell me when they read their Miranda rights. They still read it off of a little pocket card they have even though they know it by heart. Making people who don't have insurance, or even crappy insurance, pay enormous amounts of money for the treatment and medicines they need to live is inhuman.
