Australia needs more Engineers than Architects. I guess you guys may have a better future in bigger towns like Sydney and Melbourne, even Brisbane. Good luck and God bless. Cheers

Hay mate, you're not alone. We all have been there. Many of us have to start from scratch or going back to school to get a certificate just to get into the industry although we already have a uni degree in something else. Guess what? I have a postgraduate degree with a sort of a nice job back in Hong Kong. When I first came here I was just doing aged care work, showering the old folks and cleaning their toilet this kind of disgusting job, then I did a course from the TAFE that qualified me to work in the hospital which is still a low skilled job but at least it's very secure that helps to pay off my mortgage. Why I don't mind taking this kind of work and never thought about returning to Hong Kong because I love the life style here that I got a big house to live, a nice car to drive, the kids enjoy going to school with no stress. These are the things you can't have in Hong Kong unless you are super rich.

There are not many super rich people in HK. If you have worked hard, you could be a middle-class rich in US.

塔斯嘅失業率好高,本地人都搵唔到工,所以外國人更加難搵

Pretty good. I'm at Perth, Accountant also from hk, I managed to get office jobs
Of course, what can you do with a Philosophy degree? Life in a foreign country is not easy. I have lived in the States for 40 years and have worked hard throughout these years. Fortunately, I was able to achieve most of my goals and have been working for one of the top insurance carriers. With hard work and networking, one can survive in America because there are lots of opportunities.
The problems is not where u study or where u work or live. COMMUNITY SUPPORT ARE VERY IMPORTANT. Either Churches or community support groups to help when U have troubles. Blessed.+

Australia is a multicultural country. There are many ethnic groups here. I have team members from India, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Nepal, Africa, PNG, New Zealand, Scotland, England, etc. Of course we have plenty of Aussies and Indigenous too.
