Man Mike that camera is awesome. I use laundery bleach and it strips in 10 to 15 min. Engine looks great in the green with the chrome and painted parts on it. Good job so far. Ron

Bleach? Really? Ok, I'll try it. But now what if you forget about your parts in bleach? What if they're in there for like a week? AND, what about that yellow pre-treat gunk? I know you've got to have come up with somethin' for that in all these years? :)
@ronstewart97926 жыл бұрын
All I have ever stripped have come out just plastic colored. Don't know what would happen if you forgot them. I have a tub with lid an I just do it right on my work bench.
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that sounds like bleach also takes off the pre-treat. Wow. Cool! I will use it on the next one! Thanks!

Nice work Mike, not familiar at all with big rigs myself. If you happen to try bleach to strip chrome I would be interested in hearing how it does.
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
Yea, I should actually film that. I can't stand the smell of bleach so I'd have to do it outside.

Great update Mike, I use bleach or fresh super clean to strip chrome, :)
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
Amazing, everyone saying bleach and I never thought to try it. Bleach also costs basically nothing. Just trying to get away from super clean. Does bleach strip paint?
@ramblers696 жыл бұрын
Toppervision1 I never tried it to strip paint, sounds like a good experiment for you, :)

Lots of chrome there Mike! l use dollar store drano(liquid plummer) It works it 3 to 5 minutes and costs around 3 bucks!! And you can keep reusing it until it gets nasty, Lol. That engine looks fantastic all painted up like you did! Have you had a chance to try the Molotow spray can yet?
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
Funny you should ask. It arrived in the mail yesterday. I didn't try it yet. I'm trying to come up with the opportunity to film the paint test. It will be up by next week. Got the big can so if it works well I'll be able to have a lot of fun with it. :)

8v 71Detroit or 318 HP was painted light green when assembled. When new they leaked lot of engine oil. Nick name was"Green Leaker". The supercharger or Blower from these semi trucks wased on drag racing cars in the 1970's.
@Toppervision12 жыл бұрын
Aha, I guess that is a lighter green than I used. Great info!

Stopped by to help you get your KZbin hours:) Looks like you got the engine pretty good!
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
Its All Gravy lol, thanks. I had 3 channels make it past the KZbin monetization cut and they are all well past their minimums. This is one of them thank God. Thanks for helping! Did you guys survive the cut?
@itsallgravy76 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome! Nope, we did not survive but that's okay because we will still post till we start something new this summer:)

great video Mike! What kind of camera is that?
@Toppervision16 жыл бұрын
That one is the Canon R700. I don't use it often in the hobby room. I don't know why. It's 57x zoom really lets you get in there tight! I usually use the Canon G30.

AMT kits and older Lindberg/IMC kits are notorious for their vague instructions. I've pretty much stopped buying/building them for that reason. And AMT still hasn't addressed the sloppy molding on their older, reissued kits. Injection marks are often placed where they are impossible to remove and there's enough flash to build another model. I hope Round2 addresses these problems over time.

I can tell you none of them parts on that engine would come from the factory chromed

He used the wrong color green. He needed to use alpine green. True detroit color.

That ac pump is in the kit, it’s on the tree that has the exhaust parts and air intake stack. Checked 3 95 Astro kits I have and all 3 have the ac pump👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
