First heard the song as an 11 year old in 1982. Just saw the old video clip (for the first time) in 2024. The biggest shock the video revealed was that the vocalist was male. I had honestly believed it he vocalist had been a female all these years.

I always thought this group was black. British groups of this kind throughout the 80's were criminally under rated.

I'm British and they don't sound black to me. He sounds like a typical white British soul/funk singer. Maybe people from other countries would be more easily fooled so to speak.
