Wow. What a voice! She died here in Las Vegas in 2004. I was here, and only wish I had the chance to see her in person. As we all know, her 1961 recording of 'Hurt' made her a star. She could belt them out and as I recall, she had cancer of her voice box, and in about 2002 had her voice box removed,... to no avail.

First heard her sing when I was 12 ... 1959. Somehow I knew she was different. From time to time over the intervening years I would come across her voice... it was always wonderful to listen to that amazing sound. May she rest in peace!
